I'm not sure Froch wants the Ward rematch. I don't think he genuinely believes he can beat the guy and I don't see any fight between them being much different from the first one (which was not even remotely competitive). Kessler would be the best fight for the fans.

Froch was awful against Ward. If he is at his best then he will do a lot better.

I'm a huge Froch fan but I (and I think Carl deep down) believe Ward is on a different level and is all wrong for Froch's style.

I gave Froch 3 rounds against Ward first time out, and that is as a Froch fan. I don't see how he would do better in a rematch. I don't think he was particularly bad against Ward; he just doesn't have anything that can deal with Ward's handspeed, footspeed and strength on the inside.

Froch was trying to outbox Ward early on. His game plan was awful and his performance was awful. He can do a lot better.

Froch was way too confident going into the Ward fight, which did him absolutely no favours at all. He'll have 10x the respect for Ward these days and that should bode well for Carl if he ever goes into a rematch.

He'll do better for sure if he tries to concentrate on speed rather than loading up every single shot this time. I also thought he looked very laboured against Kessler for similar reasons.

What does Forch do better than Ward? Where is Froch better than Ward? I like Forch's attitude, and his willingness to take on the best is commendable, but Ward is better inside and out than Froch, stronger, faster. Froch may have the better chin, but that's about it.

I am a Froch fan and I do agree Ward is a more techically gifted than Froch is. Ward has theslicker footwork, quicker hands, tighter defence than Froch has.

Given that Ward seemed a bit tired in the last 2 rounds and lost those last 2 rounds of their fight I think Froch has the better stamina. Against the slicker operators like Ward, Dirrell and Taylor Froch's tactics should revolve around being within reach going into the last 4 rounds which is the time that he comes into his own a lot due to his work rate and stamina.

I'm a Froch fan too, but let's not forget that Ward fought their fight with a broken hand. I just think Ward is a special talent and would always find a way to beat Froch.

Froch should give Bute another beating, get revenge on Kessler and then either go out against Ward again or maybe give Pascal his rematch up at light heavy.

Exactly.

Froch hammered Bute and Mack and all of a sudden he's got a real chance against Ward. How do people figure that out? The Bute result was fantastic. The fight last night went as expected. Neither fight in any way demonstrated any sort of blueprint as to how to go about beating Ward, who is nothing like either and clearly a far more complete boxer than Froch has the tools to deal with. Ward would have no problems dealing with Froch's rushing attacks. It's better to leave that one alone. Ward will want it because he knows it's an easy pay day. He'd come to the UK for it. I don't think a clear outpointing in the Nottingham arena is what Froch wants or needs at this stage of his career.

Stumping up the cash to bring over the waning Dane is the way ahead.

Weren't the Froch fight boring? It was obvious who was going to win pretty much the entire fight.

Still can't whack Froch for taking a money making soft defence. He fights the best time and again. A rematch with Bute next year, then I can see him chasing a Kessler rematch.

i was there at the event last night and it was poor

No real atmosphere in comparison to previous froch fights

Most of the bouts were mismatches

Useless Mack should never have been in with froch .

I did say i wasnt going to buy a ticket as it looked a poor card but in the end i was persuaded to go , feel like i wasted my money and should have just watched at home .

The Unlicensed shows in Nottingham are better than what last night was , seriously.

Thought similar myself but to be fair its not as if anyone was expecting the Froch v Mack fight to be close , what happened last night was exactly as was expected really .
I too said i wasnt going based on the card strength (or lack of it) but ive not missed a Nottingham boxing show for years and knowing my luck if i hadnt bothered going it would have ended up a barnstormer , id have been gutted if id missed it then .

The atmosphere seemes decent on television though. Not that good on the night?

Just saw the report from saturdays event

Firstly ill point out that i may have had too much to drink and had my judgment altered to effect this view but ...

The Aston vs Booth fight - I dont think it was very clear on the night what decision had been made , i wasnt sure if was a draw or they had given it to booth via stoppage hence wanting to see the report , to clarify it had it as a technical draw .

Leigh Wood - I thought he won rds 1,3 and 4 clearly and that 2 was level , so i saw it as 40-37 yet it says in report 39-38 which surprised me , was i pissed or was the scoring a little off , which round is the ref saying davies won ?
