It's not a Spanish licence as the BBBOC lobbied to have his Spanish licence withdrawn after they granted it. He does have another EBU licence now though.

What reason are the board giving for trying to pull the plug on this show? EU laws allow this to happen and I would have thought it will happen more and more in the next few years, the same as they could sanction a show in any other EU country. If they are against it, maybe they should just rally their members to vote UKIP

What a mess! Hope the fighters don't get barred, surely they should be free to choose where they box or not with being persecuted?

Has anybody got the final bill for this show yet ?

Even though Boxrec aren't updating the schedule, surely the promoters could release the full card to the vast quantity of websites that have already posted the press release for the show, unless it is not going ahead?

Yes very poor updating by the promotor perhaps as you say maybe its not happening

I'd guess they arnt releasing the opponents names as the board are lobbying everyone involved to withdraw

I carnt beleive that the board are contacting individuals asking them to withdraw if they are going to take action they carnt do anything untill after the show so anybody who is due to appear on the show should do so IMO

Surely all boxers must have known they were on the show at least four weeks ago (in most cases) so they should be well aware of the issues that could arise, and the board will know in the end anyway who boxed. Can't see why publishing the names of all the boxers should be a problem with 2 days to go before the event. I wouldn't be surprised to see this get cancelled at the last minute.

x2 Who in the right mind is going to buy tickets for a show where they dont know who is boxing unless its already sold out of course

The same people who buy tickets for every small hall show, the friends and family of the guys boxing. There are very few casual fans who turn up to events like this.

In this case there is no chance of casual fans turning up I wish the promotor the best of luck

This show might be selling brilliantly, I have no idea, but it seems a full scale assault against the BBBofC would need a lot of planning, a lot of boxers on board, a TV deal, and a lot of money. If it's just a case of getting Iain Weaver out there, where does he go if this show falls on it's arse?
I'd like it to work, the Board are a limited company and don't own UK boxing, there is enough unlicensed /white collar boxing to prove this much, and I would quite like to see how a rival group would progress, no doubt there are enough licensed pro boxers that aren't getting regular fights who would jump at the chance to earn some money, and surely if those guys aren't getting offered fights regularly they shouldn't be tied into a deal that doesn't allow them to ply their trade elsewhere as well as on BBBofC shows.

The bbbofc refused to issue a foreign boxers permit to Oisin Fagan on the basis that he wasnt active enough, 4 days before the show, which cost everyone concerned considerable sums of money. Fagan lives a boxers life 24/7 and is clean living to the extreme.

Scott Harrison, Ricky Hatton etc can take between 3-7 years out of the ring (with questionable lifestyle choices) and the board have no problems re-licencing them.

My boxer really wanted to fight Fagan for personal reasons so it was either take the show on the road over to Ireland in Fagans homeland or take up an alternative like this on Goodwins homeland.

We choose the latter

Thanks for this - There does seem to be some serious inconsistencies from the board. On the surface it doesn't seem much different than Graham Earl coming back and fighting a 9 and 0 boxer, a boxer most fans would rather never see in the boxing ring again for his own safety, which they have sanctioned.
I was curious about the WBF belt up for grabs, do the board recognise these belts (and other similar championships) / allow them to be used on a board show, or is it another advantage to going a different route?

The Board dont recognise the WBF mate its probably allowed to go on Board Shows but not recognised much the same as the masters titles just 10 or 12 round contests and belts are not presented by Board Officials

I may be wrong but since the Board have decided not to recongnise the WBF titles non have been contested on BBBoC shows. As pointed out there are glaring inconsistencies but this may be due to the Board making considerable revenue with likes of a Hatton comeback.

And if Ricky Hatton says I want one more go, I'll fight Oisin Fagan, a natural lightweight, for the WBF World Championship, the board will see the £ signs and get their name on it asap. It seems like the board are more geared towards big televised fights and the smaller promoters are left to fend for themselves, having to fight to make half decent fights like Fagan v Goodwin, and not making any real money in the process - is that about right?
I used to be staunchly against these 'championship fights' but having watched The Fighter with a friend who knows nothing about boxing, I said it was a ridiculous ending as he had only won the WBU world title, which means nothing - my mate said, yeah doesn't mean anything to you but it obviously meant the world to him. Mostly changed my opinion after that.

This show was announced long before Weavers or Goodwin/Fagan fight was announced.

More TBA's than a ****** show . If they aren't going to post the full list of boxers on Boxrec, even though it is legitimately sanctioned by the GBA (I think?) before the event, will they post them after, and if not, why is it on here at all.

Like has been outlined above. The tickets are being sold on the basis of people coming to support the "home fighters".

The promoters dont want an potential "away fighters" being 'bullied' by the BBBoC who are actively trying to scupper the show so I guess the promoter is unwilling to make them public.

Not sure what the problem is.
