Bit more respect needed for Big Aud.

The guy came from a pretty tough background, sorted his life out instead of going down the wrong path and won an Olympic Gold medal. That is more of an achievement than 99.9% of the UK population can claim.

Add to that he appears a genuinely top bloke who cares deeply for his family.

Will he ever get to the holy grail of a world title? It`s doubtfull, but I have seen the films Rocky, the Fighter and Pewee v Mandingo, which tells me that underdogs can win genuine world titles against the odds.

Give the guy a break and believe.

I will always back Audley, as for me, belief is next to cleanliness as the most important trait in mankind. Without it we are mere beasts roaming the earth looking for a root and I`d like to think we are more than that.

Lip up Audley, ah lip up Audley Re Re Redemption.

fraser; Audley is far past his prime, has been battered in shocking fashion and continues to chose to take part in a dangerous sport; he'll have earned more than 99% of us on here and seems an intelligent man in every other respect than boxing on. He ought to learn a new trade or profession to provide for his family; he has a new son to think about and hi continued high profile involvement, media pronouncements etc and plain delusion hurts the sport. He has done marvelously well but who in the top 10 wouldn't beat him without breaking sweat; if he carries on he'll be like Danny Williams, another man too brave for his own good.

.
I like Audley, I genuinely do. I didn't use to, he got me pretty angry at one point I remember. I watched his Youtube vid about Living a Real Life and not sitting on the couch eating the Walkers crisps a couple of weeks ago and you couldn't argue with the man. There's people on the internet having a go at him that wouldn't see the merit in going for a run, and yet he has no hate for these people :salut: . I've nothing but respect for what he said, and I did cheer him into the ring in Sheffield. I've never booed any boxer in my life.

I'd take issue with the above statement though. Being a 6 foot whatever he is powerhouse of a man with good height and reach and being British - to win an Olympic Gold but then to have conducted his career and to continue to conduct it in the manner that he is doing, I would not blindly say that he has achieved more than 99.9% of the UK population, not by a long chalk.

Opining that Harrison should retire is not showing him disrespect, it is looking out for his well being.

Yes, he's achieved more than most of his critics, but so what; does that mean that he is beyond criticism?

He might well be a nice bloke who cares for his family, but that is not a trait unique to him: in fact, 99.9% of his critics are probably just like that too.

The man needs to quit boxing, plain & simple.

Boxing is not a sport that anyone past their best should be partaking in & he is way past a best that was never that great to start with.

The question is who does he believe he can beat? John McDermott? Maybe Lucas Browne? Or does he just wants another Prize Fighter? Any wins he does have will just send him inevitably into another bigger fight he can't possibly win.

That was me yesterday. I was trying to send an e-mail through hotmail, and my internet kept going down.

I got so pissed, I smashed my fist down on my long suffering keyboard, the space bar went flying off and I hurt my hand more than I did anything productive.
