I don't think Rees was poor last night. He was very narrowly beaten by a kid who did better. Rees said afterwards he didn't hit him with as much as usual because of Crollas movement, not because he didn't have it anymore.
I don't think anybody has said Crolla is ready for Burns. He isn't. People are just exploring the argument that beating Rees is a reason for suggesting he has earned it.
Its rich to come on here laughing at Crolla and then throwing Terry Flannigans name into the ring like he is a proven better fighter.

there's just been a british fight of the year candidate, and "rees was poor", "crolla was poor."
what, because neither dominated the other, both are regarded as poor?
crolla won, with an interesting, experimental strategy, of not using his own jab, to prevent rees from stealing openings with the sneaky counters he relies on. so crolla was fighting without his full armoury, because rees is so good at slipping, countering and landing damaging shots early on.
so it was a controlled performance, with crolla not giving rees the openings and using some of his other tools - at the right time. this, inevitably, saw crolla concede some rounds but he stepped it up and took over when he needed to. he was able to stick to a strategy suitable for the opponent, without giving the old pro enough chances to turn things 'round.
in subsequent fights, you may see crolla add to is armoury. this was a mature performance and a good fight. hard to believe the negative feedback after a performance like this. we know crolla's not a flashy, show-off type. because there aren't the fancy moves doesn't mean he's average, by any means.
on this forum, ppl often judge harshly. with burns recently, he has a good world class run, but you judge him only by broner, the 2 times broner looked great, the 2 times he was able to make 135. if broner never gets near 135 again, you'll always judge burns by this version of broner...now crolla, he becomes the man domestically, he'll get destroyed by burns. how about ignoring sky rhetoric, ignoring the promoters, give crolla a chance maybe to continue adding to his game, and , say, add the commonwealth or European titles, take the reliable, traditional big three route that Jamie McDonnell showed us can work.

It is not an insult.
We got to the jist that despite Rees being an ex world champion and long time Euro champion, you considered him not an elite lightweight, and beating him still makes a fighter not very good.
Now I want you to be able to make these feelings reality. Because this evening Anthony Crolla has a high ranking due to the lofty position of Rees, whilst you think that is unfair.
So people can bleat that he needs to fight X, Y and Z but it doesn't matter, he has the ranking...tomorrow morning, he will still be highly ranked. Your opinion is totally irrelevant, unless you change that.
Good luck...your passion shines through

So what? 3 rounders will never be a substitute for 12. Its good for a quick record build and a bit of money, but thats about it. You are grasping.

You uppity wretch, who do you think you are?
You've been spouting utter garbage on this thread and you are somehow superior to me?
Crolla is not a world level fighter, he has shown that be losing to Sykes twice and losing and drawing against Mathews. Getting a lucky win against Rees doesn't make Crolla a world beater.

Flannigan is the only lightweight ready for burns? I feel you've got that wrong there David. Flannigan is decent but that's all. His PF win while slightly merited doesn't mean much.

Nearly ready is what I said mate.. Think he is the best under Ricky in Britain at the minute.. He needs a few more fights stepping up the levels. Burns should be looking at Abril and Vasquez not Crolla in my opinion..

I think that Mitchell is the best lightweight outside of Burns domestically. That's not saying that Crolla wouldnt put up a better effort though as we all know styles make fights.

Thats the main point here,Ricky should be looking at champions or at the very least Terence Crawford, that would get him some much needed exposure stateside or mybe even Antonio Demarco

You did say nearly tae.
Rees and Crolla, Mitchell, Murray and Gethin are the top end of the domestic.
