So you wouldn't have tried to fight Mickey? Knowing you weren't right but hoping that you could pull it off? Knowing that either way it may be your last fight - you would turn that down and not fight? Bearing in mind the flights of his fans, etc were already booked, hotels paid for anyway.
I really can't fault Barker, its not like he went in and knelt down straight away is it. He tried, and was still trying when the towel was thrown in.

Frank Bruno - OK, he was always going to lose to Tyson, come what may, but the way he capitulated was pathetic.
He was terrified before the bell rang & it was so surprising because he gave a peak Tyson a decent fight 7 years earlier & Bruno, despite his limitations always gave it his all & went out on his shield, but not for Tyson 2.
Roberto Duran - His defence against Sugar Ray Leonard was a joke too. After his magnificent performance to beat a peak Leonard after jumping up 2 weight classes, he quits the rematch like a stroppy teenager because he couldn't get his own way.

I think you're second pick is case closed really.
A lot of the others were maybe down the fighter being scared or poor preparation, but with this one, Duran just turned his back & quit.
I’ve never been a fan of Darren Barker. The fawning boxing journalists (one in particular) at Boxing News and guys at SKY that have stroked his ego for years and his oafish fans have only exacerbated my irritation.
Ending his three and a bit months reign as world champ, after targeting the weakest title holder in the division and earning a split decision points victory, in that ignominious fashion was a disaster. But fair play to SKY for spinning the story into it being about Darren DISLOCATING his hip and retiring then about the defeat.
frazier vs foreman 1 wasn't the best defence ever ...... as for barker i personaly don't have a problem with him going a broad to earn 1,000,000 even if he's not in top shape......very,very few british fighters have ever got a 1000,000 pay day so good luck to him..
First one that came to mind for me was Herbie Hide vs Damon Reed. Desperate on paper and effin desperate in the ring. the ref did all he could to drag the fight out to a minute by Reed was just overmatched.
Second one for me was Carlos De Leon vs Johnny Nelson. the only time I've ever seen a 0-0 draw in boxing!!
