I think Froch would of been more generous with his praise if he didnt pretty much despise Groves.hurlock wrote:I'd of respected froch if he'd of applauded groves & admitted he got his ass kicked early on but like all good champions finds away to win.
Froch was still upset after the fight which showed how emotional the fight was to him & he was robbed of the respect of the win & groves won't allow him to in order for a return.
If Hearn can make this fight profitable for froch I'd guess he'd take it in a heart beat but to me it feels like froch is getting his hand forced slightly & has to deal with this with his head not his pride. The mans travelled all over the world been put over came back to win boxed the best in there back yard & reclaimed the title back 3 times in an incredible journey.he should make Hearn cough up, go public with the purse arrangements with groves offer if he believes he can truly win will be in the big time & it will paint a different picture of groves in the publics perception & he will get blamed for it not happening as he's playing a very clever game IMO .
Blame George groves lol

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
Froch doesn't really have any other options, Stieglitz won't leave Germany, Ward won't come over here and the money isn't good enough in the US, DeGale has a world title eliminator, Bika's possible but the money wouldn't be the same and Chavez Jnr is fighting Vera with a very real chance of losing that fight, unless Vera gets robbed again. That only really leaves Groves, unless Golovkin comes up, which would mean less money and a KO defeat to end his career.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Bang on - there's all sorts going on behind this - this is a fight Carl doesn't actually need and probably doesn't want, so it's got to have serious financial appeal. Froch has gone abroad to fight the champion before now. He probably though figures he shouldn't have to do so now, and I'd be inclined to agree.
Not really sure why people even mention DeGale as a possible opponent.

He went abroad because that's where the money was, the best money fight for him right now is Groves, unless he fancies a few million less against someone else.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Froch has gone abroad to fight the champion before now. He did knock him out, albeit briefly. Watch the replay in slow motion. His eyes shut and his lights go out. It's the same as Larry Holmes against Ernie Shavers. Holmes admitted that he was knocked out by that shot. Holmes, like Froch, was freaky tough and somehow got back up and won.lillywhite14 wrote:I'm sure I read on here from some that Groves actually knocked Froch out but 'he came round when he hit the canvas'![]()
Froch suffered a big knockdown but not only got up he went straight back at him before the round was over!

Expe,
No options ? He has four. Ward 2 Kessler 3 Groves 2 or Chavez.
He'll fight Groves - just hyping it up for now.

The money isn't there for Ward, Chavez is fighting Vera, Kessler would likely want a warm up if he chose to fight again and Groves is the biggest payday out there for him.Parson Cross wrote:Expe,

Spot on. Just shows you public perception is massive in sport. Carl won, came back from a beating like almost no one else in boxing can and he still gets severe grief because the ref fucked it up and Froch tried to defend himself straight after a very bruising battle. He felt he won, he felt he was going to KO groves anyway, so why say any different?
He didn't just defend himself.... before getting booed himself he.
1) Refused to shake Groves' hand.
2) Said the stoppage was good - surely Froch had enough about him he could see that would anger than fans who were booing the stoppage (not Froch).
3) Did not acknowledge the fight as tough
4) Only gave groves grudging respect post fight.
Froch wouldn't have got booed but for the interview which was car crash.
I'm not saying everything he done was ok, but I expect nothing less from a man who has such self belief that he doesn't know when he is getting beat. It's one of the reasons he is so tough. He doesn't acknowledge he's getting beaten. How he can think he would beat Ward in a rematch I don't know but I don't doubt Carl Froch thinks he can beat Andre Ward.
He did show poor sportsmanship but again I didn't really expect him to shake Groves hand or give him respect. He really doesn't like George Groves. That feeling is obviously mutual. I hope the rematch has a satisfactory conclusion.
Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
Chavez junior simply isnt a credible opponent.
Its poor form from Froch to talk up Chavez as the preferable option. Lets not forget. Chavez junior has never even fought at the super middleweight limit and was gifted a decision after a shocking performance last time out having been inactive for 1 year plus.
Quit the bullsh1t Froch and rematch Groves!

Chavez to your liking or not is a marquee name & has a big audience simple as.
Groves has arrived on the scene following the froch fight & has only competed at world level once & was ultimately stopped.

Can't blame him for wanting a Las Vegas fight. I'd quite enjoy watching him batter JC Junior. Give his fans a big US trip and get well paid.
Obviously, would have liked the Groves rematch but that sounds like it will happen later in the year, which is fine.

I know we are in the heat of the rematch debate right now but George still has a long career ahead of him with many possible twists and turns, which may make this fight and everything with it, appear different when the average Joe looks back in years to come.hurlock wrote:Groves has arrived on the scene following the froch fight & has only competed at world level once & was ultimately stopped.
I don't want to pull Groves down but a defeat or two in the future and the public will probably gloss over his performance here and state it as a lucky start. He's no longer an unbeaten fighter and may never get the chance to avenge it.
Everything in boxing can change in one fight. Today's hero is tomorrows villain. Just look at how opinion on Froch changed after this fight. The great fight record that Froch holds and now people just want to see him get beat or KO'd basically(which he won't anyway) and it'll be the same people calling Groves a bum once he tastes defeat again, I'm sure of that.
Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
You say that like GGG knocking Froch out is a given! Froch who seems to have one of the best chins in boxing, has fought the best in the division and is a natural SMW against GGG who's best opponent was probably Macklin, never fought anyone truly world class and is a natural MW. Don't get me wrong, I think GGG is top notch but I wouldn't say it's a given...expe wrote:Froch doesn't really have any other options, Stieglitz won't leave Germany, Ward won't come over here and the money isn't good enough in the US, DeGale has a world title eliminator, Bika's possible but the money wouldn't be the same and Chavez Jnr is fighting Vera with a very real chance of losing that fight, unless Vera gets robbed again. As for the Froch post-fight interview, it was bad, but not deserving of the reaction it got. He did say he couldn't have done what Groves did at his age. And if everyone's so sensitive to lack of sportsmanship, why aren't people getting on George's back for completely disregarding Froch's comeback and acting like he had the belts stole from him? He's blamed everyone (including Hearn) but himself when really he was very close to being stopped fairly. But no one seems to mind when he shows a lack of class, just when Carl does.

Presumably he gets past Vera and his Godfather will align the stars from heaven and see he gets the decision.
Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
true but a famous rematch win for froch, over groves, and froch'll be the hero. he'll be more popular over here, a big deal will be made, it'll humanise him, make him more of a celebrity, probably make it easier to bring big names over here.ScottDetonator wrote:I know we are in the heat of the rematch debate right now but George still has a long career ahead of him with many possible twists and turns, which may make this fight and everything with it, appear different when the average Joe looks back in years to come.hurlock wrote:Groves has arrived on the scene following the froch fight & has only competed at world level once & was ultimately stopped.

try and tell me his dream hasn't been to get ward over here with a ref that won't allow all the spoiling techniques.

Expe
You said Froch had no options.
All of those four fights can be made.
Chavez wont fight Vera if Froch agrees to the fight.
Kessler won't want a warm up.
Ward is tricky financially but can be made.
Groves - well no point repeating it over again.
We're in the hype period. The Groves fight will be announced in February.

Froch on Ringside last night seemed pretty up for it. I don't see him as a good liar, he seems easy to read and said course he'd fight Groves, he'd fight anyone. It'll happen.
