The plan all along has been for Butler to fight the winner, the mandatory will likely come after that, it's definitely not going to happen by the 21st June, he could fight Butler before that date.

It depends where the cut is. A big gash like that ABOVE the eye is the worst possible cut.

Hatton's face was covered in blood against Thaxton after 10 seconds and he went the full 12 rounds and he wasn't exactly a defensive master.

Admittedly Bellew's cut against that Argentine was not bleeding like mad but by Christ was it a bad one. You wouldn't moan at all if that one got stopped.

If that same cut happened in Froch- Groves they would of kept going. Ward corner reckon he was heading for a beating so pulled him out without having the doctor looking at it.

To be fair I think expe is more making the point of how there is a double standard with this. If the home fighter has a bad cut or a closed eye it goes on. If not it is waved off. It should be even. If that means that a lot of fights are stopped then so be it but lets have it that way every time.

And Horse is right that it was a world title fight, you have to let it go on for a bit longer than normal because of what's on the line. At least give Ward the chance to show he can still see the punches coming and box without the cut causing major problems, or try and get through the round without taking too many to give the corner an extra minute to work on it, whatever happened the doctor should have been allowed to take a look at it.

I agree 100% with horse, if it's a world title fight, if you can see then you can fight, ward won't ever get another chance like that, let the man fight

It was a good match up, not really befitting of a world title, but had the fight gone longer, it could have been good to watch. Hall took a lot of punishment against Malinga and will realistically lose the belt next time out, so it's hard to blame him for taking an easier fight in a local derby, for a good payday.
