Team Porter: No contract from Kell Brook, he is stalling!

Earlier today Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted that his fighter Kell Brook had signed his contract for a summer showdown against IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter.

According to Hearn, they are just waiting on Golden Boy Promotions to announce the date the fight will take place. August 9th was the date originally targeted with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY hosting the fight.

That date is now off the table for the fight and Porter's father and trainer isn't so sure that Brook has actually signed his contract and believes that the lack of a signed contract is the reason they were bumped from the date.

"Good morning Ryan. I read a tweet about Brook but I believe he is stalling. I don't believe he wants this fight. Eddie Hearn's twitter says he signed, but to confirm we have not received a signed contract. I believe that is why we have been pulled from the Barclays show. I don't think they wanted to take a chance with the date being 8 weeks away," Porter told BS.com.
If this is true, and I am not saying it is then Brook disgrace and has zero credibility no matter how hearn tries to spin it.

In my case I'm just sick of hearing about Kell Brook working on deals and having upcoming fights, and never seeing the guy in a damn one of them. He needs to sh*t or get off the pot already.

Never even seen him fight, and I've already lost basically all respect for him.

Well it looks like you'll get to see him sometime before September 7th.

Good. I hope he loses.

For the record. I know I'm hard on Brook, but fighters constantly backing out of fights is one of the things that will piss me off the most. David Haye is one of my least favorite Boxers in the World because of that crap, and Kell Brook appears to be cut from the same mold.

You should probably watch him fight before you talk about him losing handily to anyone in the top ten. His career has been frustrating, but I think he's pretty good and in with a shot against almost everyone in the division.

Porter's side sounds doubtful and it makes me wonder if they have a more lucrative option on the table, or at least as a realistic possibility. I'd hate to see something like Ion-Brook for the title, so I hope this fight still goes ahead.

If I was advising Brook I would stay clear of Porter, the guy looks a beast from what I have seen of him. Can see him wearing Brook down and scoring a late stoppage. Brook should fight Khan in a big domestic dust up, would make loads of money and we would find out where he is at at world level.

I think it was the TR options that killed that fight from ever happening.

Nearly every fight Top Rank make now is in-house or with associates.

Hearn gave his reaction exclusively to ‘Scene.

“I was shocked to hear Porter’s comments and as such immediately called Arnold Joseph, Golden Boy’s lawyer, who confirmed to me that all contract and agreements were fully executed and forwarded to the IBF. We are more than happy with the terms, which include random drug testing which I feel is very important in the sport today. The original date of Aug 9 appears to have fallen through so we are awaiting now the final confirmation of the fight date which must happen prior to Sep 10 within the agreement. I’ve seen the speculation regarding another potential bout for Shawn Porter. I’m sure he and his team are aware that this would result in him being immediately stripped of the IBF title. I cannot tell you how ready Kell Brook is for this fight. He’s deep in camp and ready to do a job on Shawn Porter.”

It's all getting messy. I reckon the delay is porters hope of a mayweather payday.

Brook is a hell of a lot stronger than Paulie. I'll ignore that fight when judging Porter.

Thats exactly what it is, The Tv Execs however want Maidana rematch hence the delay in any formal announcement for both fights

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Terry saw the Manny fight as 50-50 3 years ago and admits wanting to fight Khan for £20? Also, for all his good points, Kell still hasn't had his shot!

Kenny Porter: Kell Brook has signed, Shawn Porter will follow
Lem Satterfield
June 23, 2014
Kell Brook has signed to fight IBF welterweight titleholder Shawn Porter, who will "sign the contract" on Tuesday to face the unbeaten English contender, Porter's father and trainer Kenny Porter informed RingTV.com Monday evening.

Kenny Porter's assertion followed an earlier one by Golden Boy Promotions Vice President and matchmaker Eric Gomez, who informed RingTV.com that "a deal is in place" for Porter (24-0-1, 15 knockouts) against Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) "to take place within the next couple of months."

"I just received a phone call, and they do have a signed contract from Kell Brook," said Porter, who was notified "by one of the higher-ups."

"We will be receiving that contract tomorrow, ourselves. They just needed the signature from them first before they could send it to us."

Porter-Brook was ordered by the IBF in April. It had appeared that Porter and Brook were headed for an Aug. 9 date at Barclays Center in Brooklyn until Sunday, when Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya informed RingTV.com that RING junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, IBF 140-pound beltholder Lamont Peterson and middleweight contender Danny Jacobs would, instead, be facing opponents to be determined on that date and at that venue.

"We don't have a date, but, obviously, the Aug. 9 deal is off, but we should be getting a call about the new date, as well," said Kenny Porter. "But the signed contract from Kell Brook will be coming over to me, tomorrow. We will sign the contract, and we will be moving forward."

Porter had been granted an exception by the IBF for an April 19 clash with ex-titleholder Paulie Malignaggi, whom Porter floored twice during a fourth-round knockout at The D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C.

The 27-year-old Brook has won four straight by knockout and was last in the ring for last month's eighth-round stoppage of Alvaro Robles that had followed one in October in the fourth round over ex-beltholder Vyacheslav Senchenko, whom Brook floored twice.

Prior to Malignaggi, Porter was coming off a unanimous-decision win that earned the belt from Devon Alexander, during which he dictated a physical fight that left both fighters bleeding from cuts around their eyes in December.

A former junior middleweight managed and trained by his father, Kenny, Porter’s victory over Alexander was preceded by last September’s unanimous decision over ex-beltholder Diaz, with whom Porter had battled to a draw in December 2012.

The silence when the British side of events is posted is deafening mate.
Yet when there's the slightest murmur from across the pond it's
"knives out lads Brooks a shit house" you would think even the casual would look objectively given Khans high profile and his recent well documented treatment by FMM.

He's probably been used as a pawn in negotiations between Floyd and Maidana just like Alexander was not so long ago.

So so many negative comments here...shame.

Regardless of what's happened in the past how can anyone blame Brook for this, he's signed the contract for gods sake?

Hopefully it still comes off, but if it doesn't then in no way should anyone blame him.

I do feel for fans going to watch , of course I do, but that again isn't a fault of Brook.

Come on guys..geez

Brook's not to blame, he's in camp isn't he and pushed for the bout and signed the contracts.

If Porter is hoping for a Floyd bout he may get mucked about like Khan did and get stripped and lose a payday.

I hope there are random drug tests throughout the camps and before and after the bout - it'll set some rumours straight one way or another.

I believe they are deliberately messing Brook around. There are so many stories about the struggle he has to keep his mind on the fight when away from home. He went of training in Spain thinking he was boxing on August 9, might even have planned a holiday for straight after. Now he doesn't know when he is fighting.
