This fight makes no sense yet, khans not stupid why fight brook now when he can wait for brook to gain some notoriety in the states and the UK public to literally crying blue murder for the fight to happen? That's when this could be bigger than froch v groves.
Have to disagree with that.
When Khan fought in Sheffield I don't think ticket sales were that good.
I can speak from my own experiences watching Khan in the flesh at the Manchster Arena.
The Kotelnik fight had most of the top tier cornered off.
The McCloskey fight had a big attendance but the majority of that was the Irish coming over.
That's right,in fact my tickets were upgraded to the better seats free of charge, there were a lot at the Barrera fight, but that was because he's a legend and he got the bigger cheers when they walked in,i was also at the Prescott fight and there were crowds running around the halls outside cheering that Khan had just been flattened.

Ego. I'd expect Mayweather to win both of those fights to take him to 49-0, same as Marciano, I think the idea of one more fight to make it 50 and have the longest unbeaten run of a world champion in history would appeal to him and the extra millions wouldn't do any harm either.

I didn't realise he'd had 47 fights. You may be right because of that. 50-0 does have a good ring to it.

its classic Amir Khan all over again, its basically "I don't get my own way so I'll throw the teddy out of the pram" and then he'll moan and make excuses until he gets his own way sooner or later.
if he doesn't start acting like the world beater he claims to be he'll just be passed by and the way Kell is going right now and he's said he wants to defend his title twice over the summer, if he does he'll be making a lot of noise at world level and getting the British public behind him all the way to a fight with Floyd or Manny before Khan even gets a look in.

Wonder if Brook and Hearn would be so keen if it was on a Khan Promotions/Golden Boy show on allegedly?
Let's be honest, no one is scared of anyone, but neither do Hearn/Brook have the right to say Khan must fight on their show.

Kotelnik fight, ticket sales suffered badly because it was postponed six weeks from mid-June to end of July, but Warren pressed on as Kotelnik had mandatory due in September.
Not true to say majority at McCloskey fight were Irish.Maybe noisiest, but there were about 6,000 Irish there maximum out of a 19,000 crowd.
Khan did not sell out Sheffield v Diaz, but when Brook fought there last week, one end of the arena was curtained off.

Looks like Khan turned down an IBF eliminator against Bradley. If this is true, I hope Algieri KO's Khan. The guy is now a joke, he would have beaten Bradley but he wants to take easy fights to get wins and get a shot at Mayweather.

And Canelo will be the most obvious choice by that time. Unfortunately for Khan, Canelo brings far more dollar than Amir ever will.

Exactly, Khan doesn't want to lose to a domestic fighter. Lose to Mayweather or Pacman and he has lost to an elite fighter and made a fortune.
Khan couldn't live with being the 2nd best in the UK, 2nd in the World would be OK though. I prefer Kell he will step in the ring with anyone.

How do we know that Brook will step in with anyone? Because he got in with Porter? There are some very good fighters in the division, even better than Jo Jo Dan or Frankie Gavin.

Well he should stop over-rating himself.

There was 10,000 for the Brook fight. For the Khan-Diaz fight tickets were being given away and there was still a poor crowd after Khan alienated the locals by slagging off Brook and then, bizarrely boasting of how he had outsold Brook in his hometown.

I think there was something like 6,000 reported for the Diaz fight in Sheffield.
I recall the figure because he was on radio saying he was a bigger draw than Kell in Sheff, then it ended up with freebies and so forth to attract people on the day. Afterwards Brook ridiculed his boasts.
At the end of the day though, he is a good TV draw - and ultimately who cares - we all just want to see British boxing get another interesting and evenly matched fight between 2 fighters in their primes for a world title.
Wildwayon & Northern have both nailed it. I don't believe he wants to walk around the UK with the stigma of being 2nd best around his weight class and rather than give a genuine, rational explanation he is like an octopuss now, squirting out defensive and hostile excuses why he is ducking the fight.
There is no credible reason why he's turning down a fight in a huge stadium, with a guaranteed box office hit, for a world title against his most fierce rival on these shores.
His latest is that he is talking about legal action against the IBF because they never contacted him, so how could he turn down the shot? (which would be a first)
The IBF should call his bluff and say okay, we will add a grace period of 7 days from today and re-issue the invite again publicly through social media, and he can then respond publicly yes/no to their request.

Khan has done a 25 minute interview for IFL blaming Brook and Hearn for spreading stories about Showtime turning down his fight and him ducking Bradley and they're trying to "make him look small".
Although Khan denies turning down Bradley, IBF say he did:
http://www.BS.com/ibf-confirms ... tor--89396
It was well-respected journalist Dan Rafael who claimed that Showtime had turned down the Algieri fight. Now the fight that Khan announced on his wife's site doesn't seem to be on.
Ironically, Khan says Brook needs to fight the likes of Bradley and Thurman.
When asked about Algieri points out that Algieri beat Emmanuel Taylor who is a "great" fighter!
Claims that Mayweather and Pacquiao don't know who Brook is. Does anyone believe that Pacquiao doesn't know the other belt holder? Does Khan not know that Brook trained in Floyd's gym in Vegas last summer?

Khan does seem to be backing himself into a corner. Just as you think he's starting to win people over with some good performances in the ring, he's given a mike outside the ring and spouts a load of defensive tosh which puts people off him.

This feels a bit like Hatton-Witter all over again, with Hatton finding a myriad of reasons for not boxing Witter. The good thing is Kell has got support from Showtime (Witter didn't, unfortunately) and Khan doesn't have a whole city supporting him, so there is less reasons for the fight not to happen.
Khan will have to box Brook at some point. If not, then I think that would reflect badly on him, and the wider public (not just the hardore fans) will back Brook, I feel.

He did, which meant he could call the shots and not have to face a potential banana skin (which would have generated a lot of cash, as the wider public were interested in this fight too).

think Bradley would have got to khan at some point and busted him up, he's tough as hell, and throws a tonne of punches.

Remember the grief Khan gave Bradley for refusing a unification fight down at LWW too,I'm a massive fan of Amir and feel he takes a lot of unjust flak but I'm struggling to defend him
When did boxers become such bitches outside of the ring? I blame all these promoters refusing to acknowledge one another face to face but they've always been mostly snakes but now the boxers are just as bad

Khan is in a strange position right now as there are no easy titles to be won at welterweight, Floyd and Manny are the top dogs then there's thuram and brook both bad fights for khan especially thuram ,Bradley would be a better fight for khan I think

Khan talks rot, I think we all know that by now.
He reckoned he'd been taking Andre Ward's punches in sparring - then Ward embarrassed him by saying he'd never shared a ring with Khan.
Same went for John Murray, he said he owned him in sparring - but Murray called him out on it, saying they'd never sparred even once, to just man up and fight him. But he didn't.

I just don't know why he would say it knowing it wasn't true and also knowing they would out him about it...very strange indeed

It is just business. I think you always have to remember that this is a business, not a sport. From how I read it, this is just typical fight talk to build up the price and earnings. Khan has to manouvre himself into a situation where he keeps his options open for the winner of Pac/Mayweather, but still keep interest in a Brook fight bubbling. Khan has a point.
A lot of the British public will know who Amir Khan is, I dont think you could say the same of Brook. There is NO challenger out there where Brook can earn this kind of money-so like him or not-Khan is right. He is in the driving seat and he has to decide what is best for him, not for Brook. A fight with Brook is not the best move for Khan with the risks involved, a fight with Khan is the best move for Brook.

Khan is a skilfull and exciting fighter.
Without boxing, his IQ is that low he'd likely be a take-away delivery lad in a citreon saxo and definitely not a lawyer or accountant.
