So was the great Joe Frazier before the Terry Daniels and Ron Stander fights

So was the great Roberto Duran between 1967-80 time frame.

So was the great Willie Pep between 1940-48

Nevermind that the supposedly rusty Ali had been sparring regularly with the best hws in the world at Dundees gym and came out of retirement fresh enough to take out two of the best contenders he ever faced like nobody before or after him. Rusty my ass. He just met up with a junk yard dog that night and that version of Frazier gives any version of Ali hell and wins. The only way Ali ever beats Frazier is if he gets an inompetent ref that loves hug fests or if Frazier is shot.

*drops mic*
Frazier gives Ali of any stage a torrid fight.

Even Ali at his very best (1966/67) did not have the physical strength or pop in his punches to deter Frazier & Ali would have missed a lot of punches thus making him tired.

I've always said that Ali (1966) -v- Frazier (1969) when both were at the top of their games would have been a tough & torrid fight.

I'd take Ali to edge it, but he would have caught hell doing so.

Some people believe that the great Muhammad Ali was still prime in TFOC. He was the favorite to win the fight. Both were undefeated. Both were in their 20s. Both great champions. The best man won

Are you one of them? Do you think Ali was at his absolute peak for that fight?

Just keep calling people names and it will get uglier. Let's have respect from one another. You start name calling, and I will call you names. This is not the first time I've warned you, Keith.

You want the name calling? Go head. I Will do the same. Got that?

Ali fought one of the very greatest fights of his career on 3/8/71.

Otherwise, he would not have seen the 15th round that night.

I just wish Frazier wouldn't have had physical and medical issues going into the FOTC.

Then we could have seen best vs best.

Just answer the question....

How can someone who is unbeatable, gets beat?

Or admit you made a mistake?

You said that the great Muhammad Ali of the 60s was as close to unbeatable. That meant to me that he was not unbeatable. It's the same with the great Hands of Stone. He was as close of unbeatable that I have ever seen.

Yes, Duran lost to a fantastic fighter in Esteban De Jesus. But, he got that revenge, twice by KO.

It's almost the same equivalent of the great Sugar Ray Robinson in the '40s. He was as close as unbeatable in my view. He lost to the great Raging Bull in '43.

As for the name calling, stop that crap, now. Let's have respect for one to another.

He is not going to answer your question. You cornered him so now he is going to off on one of his silly tangents.

Duran also barely beat Edwin Viruet during this time frame. Decision could have gone the other way in their first fight.

He also said Pep was nearly unbeatable during the 1940-1948 time frame. (I assume he is not including the fight with Saddler in 1948).
Pep lost to Sammy Angott in 1943.

Can you just give it a fcking rest so maybe the whole thread doesn't get swamped in your boring mutual spamfest, and some interesting points that nobody is discussing might get discussed instead.

I'll start, palooka made the point that wilfredo Gomez on his best nights may have been unbeatable at 122lbs.

Id say Olivares takes him..

Anyone?

I would say Olivares would have a serious chance. Gomez is not "unbeatable" on his best night at this weight. However, it probably would take a great fighter to do it.

The great Wilfredo Gomez would've been too strong for the great Rockabye Ruben. Gomez was a very complete fighter. The night that he whupped and thrashed the great as Carlos Zarate in Puerto Rico was a total beast.

It took great fighter like Salvador Sanchez to beat Bazooka. And Sanchez did it AT HIS OWN WEIGHT CLASS. Gomez had to go up in weight.
