Hey MacTavish, I live here. The main brew-pubs are the places to go - also around the markets for glühwein, given the season! If you are after Irish, McLaughlins is where you want to go.

I haven't been on the wheel myself but will enjoy a drink in the markets around it!

Gnome, would you know more or less how long the journey is to the Espirit arena with the U-bahn from Aldstadt/Heinrich-Heine-Alle? I might face a delay setting off on Saturday.

Hi Cholo, the tram takes about 15 minutes usually, maybe a bit more on Saturday giving the crowds. Take the U78, there should be one every five minutes given the event. The tram will take you right into the stadium. Good call to get there early - they will be pretty fastidious given the threats.

Given what's happened on the continent over the past couple of weeks, especially with a car full of guns being found in Germany, i think you just have to give a bit of credit to the Germans for going ahead with the event when it would have been easy to cancel it because of the threat level.

It's a shame for all of the fans travelling out to watch it but i'm sure there are other German delights to sample!

Another question (sorry!) - often for football matches in Germany you can use your match ticket to get free transport on the u-bhan on the day of the game - does this apply to the boxing tickets?

all the big fight hype certainly makes a difference , even if the fight itself turns out a damp squib but a trip to Germany is a trip to Germany and should be a great spectacle even outwith the boxing

but ive got a feeling Fury will make it a good fight also so should be one to remember

Yes mate, your ticket is also a valid travel ticket (for trains, buses and trams), but I think officially its only for to and from the stadium so you might be pulled up if you get asked at 10 in the morning (on the way to the pub).

I think they are normally for 24hrs - might be wrong though - will ask at the airport, its a pretty quick ride to the city centre right?

I travelled out to Germany in October, fight was moved but we went for the weekend anyway.

Absolutely itching to be out there right now taking in the big fight atmos, Dussledorf is a great city.

Dang, already got my German speaking mate to book train tickets to Dortmund on Sunday for the football, sounds like you can travel as far as from Dusseldorf to Dortmund for free with a match ticket. Live and learn.

Nobody seems to ask for tickets anyway. McLaughlins seems to have been taken over by Irish travellers. I recognised Issac Lowe amongst them.
