I've read that Amir is a very wealthy young man; he turned pro to a large sum and has been a decent attraction since. He has enough money to have a charitable foundation. I hope he's training hard with Hunter, in enjoy watching Khan box - he's skilled, fast, has some power and has flaws - it makes for interesting bouts.

for a fighter who was lucky to get the nod against algieri , khan has an inflated sense of his worth. he has done nothing at welter, and doesnt appear to enjoy fighting. brooks people should make him an offer of 2 mill , and thats much more than he deserves. khan has nowhere to run.....if he fights garcia , he gets kod, if he fights brook, spence, thurman he gets kod. my guess is he probly fights another old feather fisted guy like guerrero or some other has been whos no longer a threat.

Is he just playing games to get Hearn/Brook to agree to less? Or does he really not fancy fighting Brook? He'd be lucky to get a third of the money for facing Garcia and if he didn't get stopped he could get jobbed out of a decision.

I've no doubt he's a wealthy man but I'd say most of it is generated outside of the ring. Ricky Hatton made his millions in the ring as did Lewis. I think he might have had a couple of £1m paydays going from info in this thread but they'll have been no multi million paydays let alone £9m!

By the way, you don't need to be wealthy to have your own charity foundation. If you're famous it's even easier to get people to donate the necessary cash and do probably write off tax

it doesn't matter where Khans money was generated, it means hes sat on cash and doesn't have to fight if the fight or money doesn't appeal to him.
Khan is in the drivers seat. Make him happy and we have a fight...

That is true. Just a shame that Khan doesn't seem interesting in securing a meaningful welterweight career and the money he has might restrict it anymore

He's had 3 welterweight fights - Collazo, Alexander and Algieri. All decent wins, but nothing incredible. He's been holding out for a superfight, but if he had beaten a Rios/Chaves to fill the gap, would that have made much difference to anyone?

Beating Rios or Chaves would be a huge boost for Brook's record, but would do little to enhance Khan's record.

Brook really doesn't get criticised enough for his very weak resume.

I'm starting to wish khan would rematch Garcia get beat and retire,he obviously has no believe in himself anymore he's been fighting the weakest fighters he can get away with ! And who is khans fanbase that some keep mentioning it's not the average English boxing fan Americans seem to think he's got the worst chin in the world he hasn't had any big paydays really I bet George groves has earned more than khan in the last couple of years..

Khan fights better opposition than Brook.

Porter is the best opponent that either has beaten in the last 5 years, but Khan's opposition has been better overall.

Porter is really all that Brook has on his record and that win was almost a year and a half ago now.

Khan should have done more in recent years, but he's still done a lot more than Brook.

Eddie wants Brook Khan so much that he would give him everything he could possibly give. The fact that Khan is pushing for much less money fight and has been avoiding Brook for so long proves that he wants nothing to do with Brook.

Those 3 fights have been over about 3-4 years though. He's ticked over rather than attempting to light up the division

Brook vs. Gavin, Dan and Bizier. Tick overs or lighting up the division?

Bit harsh to not include the Porter fight! Gavin, Dan & Bizier are not lighting up the division but going away and beating Porter definitely was. The only thing that i can say as a positive about Brook since beating Porter is that he will have fought 3 times since August 14 by the end of March.

Khan has fought just 3 times since April 2013 while waiting for a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight to fall into his lap. For someone who sees himself being at a similar level in financial terms and status to Ricky Hatton, it's worth comparing how he got the big fights. Hatton beat Tszyu in 2005 then fought a unification, won a welter title, won back another lww title, fought a good name and then took on Mayweather at the end of 2007.

The blueprint is there but nobody wants to take a chance to follow it

Garcia has every right to take that position. He dropped Khan 3 times and having it stopped in the 4th is pretty conclusive. If Khan had gone off and pushed himself back to the top then it would be more worthwhile for Garcia but Khan offers nothing to him.

Now if Khan held the IBF title and gave Garcia the opportunity for a unification, that would be a much different situation

But Hatton could take a punch and Khan can't. If Khan had a dependable chin I have no doubt he would be active and out there beating up names and forcing his case. It's a parallel of his domestic period, where he preferred to avoid punchers like Thaxton and Romanov for historic, traditional titles and instead box semi-retired Danish non-hitters for WBO international trinkets - but now the same story is being played out on the world stage. He knows one of the young ambitious titlists might splatter him and now his most hated nemesis, Brook, is agonisingly the only one who presents major money.

He must curse his jawbone on a daily basis.

If you're not willing to risk a big stake then you're not going to win a lot. You can always buy a lottery ticket, sit tight and pray it comes in but that's a 45,000,000/1 shot

Totally agree. Unfortunately for Khan playing this game he'll probably opt for a safe rematch with Lamont Peterson and inadvertently get himself whacked for chump change.

Retirement? Khan seems to be painting himself into a corner. A blind man on a flying horse could see that he was never going to get those fights with Mayweather and Pacquaio. He now looks a bit desperate, so people like Angel Garcia can chose to ignore him; although he is no.1 challlanger, I bet Danny Garcia opts to unify the titles instead.

The Brook fight is a natural, but, for some reason, he doesn't seem to fancy it. It's bizarre.

Perhaps they are look at a unification fight, which always trumps a mandatory fight.

We are also talking about the WBC here, whom allowed Cotto & Canelo to fight for a middleweight title - despite neither being middleweights - whilst the true middleweight king has to stand in the sidelines and watch despite being in place for the title fight for 18months+ !
