Whether it was the day before or the night of, the fact of the matter is that if he came into the ring at 170 then he was fighting as a LHW or if he was simply 169 then that is LHW territory.

I'm not sure what part of this you're not understanding.

By the time FN arrives if he's at 170 or above then he is competing within the LHW territory.

The rules of boxing as presently exist mean that fighters weigh in for bouts day of. You know this and so do I. Argue it however you want: it isn't 1961.

Who's talking about rules?? This is common sense, if a fighter is a MW and the limit is 160 and he comes in at 161 he is by definition fighting as a SMW and not a MW.

Rules have nothing to do with the facts.

IBF (or any ABC) rankings are utterly meaningless.

You are a silly, silly man.

That is all.
Come on. Ward finally faces an opponent of his own size, having skills and power. It is a progress. Barrera may even be better than overrated Froch and Kessler. The fight will show.
The only way Ward loses to Barrera is if he's declined in a major way over the past 3 years. A Barrera win doesn't make him better than long term champions like Froch or Kessler.

Right. And the weigh in is the day prior. That's when those weights count towards the titles people fight for in the sport. So I'm right, and you're wrong. Thanks for playing.

I never said anything about you being wrong about that, you sound like a 4th Grader with that kind of talk. All I spotlighted is the fact that if a fighter comes into the ring on FN 1lb or more over the weight limit regardless if they make the required limit the day before they are still in essence fighting in another weight class.

I'm not sure what is your problem with admitting that, I have no problem with admitting you are right about the weigh in weight. Wow

So you don't consider him the middleweight champion? He didn't weigh under 160 against Cotto.

So why are you brining in fight night weights? No boxer weighs in the same as they do from the scales.

Because of this:
zorndeslammes wrote:
You know what's really funny? Three fights ago, he fought the "light heavyweight champion". Two fights ago, he fought a guy that weighed in at 170. His last fight? He fought at a catch of 172, IIRC. He's basically been fighting light heavyweights in reality for something like 3 years now.
We could arguably say the same thing about GGG seeing that he comes in on most FNs at 170 or slightly above. Do you see how this works?

Stop being a hypocrite about this, no need to use all this bull. If you don't like AW then just say so.
And because I mentioned that and certain idiots like Ikey have a problem with it because he's a GGG Worshipper.

All i did was a simple comparison and these guys are whining about it and saying stupid stuff like "your immature". This is a boxing forum and I'm entitled to my opinion, if you don't like it then just say you don't agree with it or totally ignore it.

There's no need to be a d*ck and be totally insulting simply because someone says something about your hero that you do not like.

Idiot, 170 and 172 mentioned by zorndeslammes are previous day weights, not fight night weights.

You are the dummy. You were asked why you started talking about fight night weights, and you answered that it was because zorndeslammes said that, while in fact those are apples and oranges.

Andre Ward is a pampered prima donna who has an arrogant feeling of superiority and a sense of entitlement. He has no sense of good sportsmanship and selfishly demands all the advantages.

He's definitely no Christian.

You guys are losing sight of the fact that the mere rumor of a semi-decent fight was supposed to absolve ward of all criticism.

Don't know what the Christianity thing has to do with anything, but he's definitely a Prima Donna.
