Why do you dislike the Fury's so much, do they owe you money? I'm not enamoured of Tyson Fury and his father either, but I can live with it.

Most likely gonna get some stick for saying this but imo I cant think of a champion of the world that is worse than Fury for winning the most prestigious title in the world. I think its being on par as Doncaster Rovers winning the FA Cup.

I was thinking maybe Herbie Hide but Im not too sure he is as bad as other possibilities.

So open to debate, who was proberly the worse of heavyweight champions?
Where do you start?

There's been some shocking belt holders in the heavyweights over time.

Even if you're restricting it to true linear champions, Fury is nowhere near the worst.

You need to give the guy a chance first.

I agree. I have found this thread slightly strange, for exactly that reason. Fury is plainly neither the worst nor the best heavyweight champion, and we won't know where in between he sits until he fights a few times more. Beating Klitschko was a great result, and in my view he shut him down rather than Klitschko somehow choosing not to throw punches, but it's hard to tell how far Klitschko may have slipped, and how Fury might fare against other styles. So there are lots of unknowns.

But even based on what we know now, and looking at the original post and lineal champions since WW2, Fury would beat Ingemar Johanneson, Leon Spinks, Shannon Briggs and Hasim Rahman. So I can't see he is the worst even if we’re only considering lineal champs.

And looking at alphabet champions, is he really worse than ALL of John Tate, Mike Weaver, Mike Dokes, Gerrie Coetzee, Tony Tubbs, Pinklon Thomas, Trevor Berbick, Bonecrusher Smith, Francesco Damiani, Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison, Michael Bentt, Herbie Hide, Bruce Seldon, John Ruiz, Nikolai Valuev, Lamon Brewster, Oliver McCall, Frank Bruno, Chris Byrd, Corrie Sanders, Sergei Liakhovich, Sultan Ibragimov, Oleg Maskaev, Samuel Peter and Bermane Stiverne? And that's without getting into debates on Wilder.

I have never suggested Tyson Fury was the worse heavyweight champion.

This thread has become that kiddy game chinese whispers.

Pretty sure the OP meant 'worse world heavyweight champion'. Not 'worst shitty alphabet soup guy'.

But all those guys would punch back. And Ingo, Briggs and Rahman had one-punch KO power in their day.

That doesn't quite tally with the OP mentioning Herbie Hide, though.

OK - I was just answering the point in the OP that said "I cant think of a champion of the world that is worse than Fury for winning the most prestigious title in the world," but guess I misunderstood.
