I don't think he is chinny particularly. I do think he holds his hands far too low and is going to get tagged

That being said, I am sure he can provide some fireworks along the way

Why not stick to discussing what is evident at the moment.
i think it's a fair point. It's not like Haye hasn't been hurt before, he was all over the place after taking that right from Mock.
We all know about Mock - old fight, old news.
I agree we shouldn't jump to conclusions about that fight, or rather that punch. But we can't just ignore it and forget that it's happened. When discussing Haye's ability to take a punch, it's a relevent point.

It seems there is a very pro-hobson bias to all your comments, I think perhaps that could be why you are so down on Haye.

Hands can and will be kept higher. Get hold of the Williams fight for an up-to-date view.

He's a phenomenal talent. I think the bad thing about showing a boxers first ten fights on such high profile TV is that the people see his/her weaknesses as she adapts to the fight game. Give him time. He's young yet.

If Mark Hobson can "own" him then I'm sure Haye can too.

Hobson lost to Rothmann after all.

Bag-rat.....did his parents not like him or something

He isn't opf the calibre of some of the guys David's sparred with. But nothing against Hobson. He's #3 in the division behind Nelson and Haye. He's getting better and better, and i can see him progressing to European level and doing well once he's won the Lonsdale belt for keeps.

time will tell....
Next month Haye will be sparring with the Brazilian, Azile, who has just come off a decision loss to Braithwaite. You cant get much better sparring than that.

I did. It was better, but against a fighter who was working from memory and almost glacial in movement

Hopefully the two will face one another one day soon, and then we will see who is the better man.

I do believe he's also sparred with Alex Gurov, Danny Williams and Audley Harrison.

Hayes not chinny, thats not what im saying. But to compete at the level that guys on here think Haye will his chin will let him down ,no question. Its a prerequisite that to operate in the top division u need a better chin than Hayes, which does not mean hes chinny, thats different.

U all missed the point about Ohanyon, its not the quality of sparring its the intensity.I didnt imply that Hobson owned Ohanyon lets just say Ohanyon came to own Hobson his coach said thats how he was taught to spar...... for real.Greenberg,Williams ive been told are a nice spar ,oh and Ohanyon is a very talented fighter.

no, because it was a shot to the temple, as this pic shows:

Those shots aren't the same as a punch to the chin.[/quote]

Yes, but in Boxing, people get hit on the temple.

Yes, true, but it's fairly rare a full blooded shot lands right on that spot.

True. I'm of the opinion you can either take a good shot....or you can't.
To say someone takes a great shot to the chin, but can't hold a shot to the temple seems bizzare.

There's plenty of great and good fighters who were never knocked over from a temple shot. Maybe knocked down by a huge punch a few times, but when they got up their legs weren't doing crazy things.
And its's defintely not because they never took a shot to the temple.

KO,on the Ohanyon thing i dont think they could get anyone to fight him.I know Bonsons team turned it down, mind u look at his credentials and also the rumours on him.And on the Hobson bias thing ,yeah definately.....did u also know Hobson is the only guy to give Bonson a count, not bad form.

personally i think we are lucky to have three potential contenders and two old wily champs in nelson and thompson, of different types of fighters too.

My pick has to be haye who undoubtedly has the most talent, but this isnt all about offensive ability its about the whole package. Time will tell however in regard to Mark, Enzo and David there is still a lot of unknowns and a lot of unchartered territory. Im looking forward to finding out who will rise to the top!

You're right J, the UK cruiserweights are looking good at the moment. Just hope these fights happen ( I'm thinking Enzo v Haye for starters ) and don't fade away, like the light middles did.

Yes, we are a bit spoilt for talent in this division, though much of it is yet unproven. A shame that Nelson and Thompson are exiting as the others open the door.

Thanks MW, yeah maybe so but I think they coudl climb the ladder a little if the fights cant be made for now.
I cant see Enzo getting in with Haye myself, I would like to see Enzo fight Hobson, I give Mark a better chance in that one that against Haye personally.
I like Mark solid workmanlike fighter, who is hard and honest.

I reckon he could give Macca a few probs, then Haye to fight the winner (if he takes Thompson on)
