I was 1 of the ones who said Joe and Scott would never make the same mistake as the Salinas fight and TBF they did but surely Scott should know to win fights you need to throw punches, seems to me BOTH guys are at fault but especially Quigg, trainers can only do so much

Any "nice" trainer recieved this kind of flack for their fighters freezing??

Although i will admit Gallagher telling Quigg everythings fine is ludicrous
The thing is whenever Quigg talks about the Salinas fight he seems to think he won :brick:

I thought he nicked it by a round as well but he did leave it mighty late to get going

I had it close but the way he talks about it is as if they had a master game plan when in truth he just got it horribly wrong that night and almost cost himself a loss

I met Billy Graham after the fight.

He thought the fight was there for the taking but said 'Joe Gallagher lost that fight'.

Very interesting.

Gallagher was actually lucky that Watt's scoring wasn't as horrendous as it sometimes is. If Watt had Quigg winning after 6, would Gallagher have even told Quigg to change tactics?

gallagher could have read him the riot act a bit earlier but frampton was hardly golovkin either. if no one is doing ote, you dont need to do much for a 10-9 and maybe quigg and joe thought they were sneaking it.

for me, the blame lies with quigg. he was more scared of frampton than carl was of him and only realised late on that he was the boss in there.

Joe did get it wrong because of the shock that sky had him 6-1 down after 7. At that point I had the first as a 10-10 followed by 6 rounds for frampton. They weren't great but at least he was trying to do something and engage.

I think a lot is being made of that look at framptons corner in the 11th. I think he had chosen to stand toe to toe and was breathing out of his hoop.when he came out for the 12th he stood, traded and got away. I believe had the first 6 been like that from quigg, i think Joe would have been picking him off the floor.

I don't like Joe as a personality from the interviews I've seen, but that was a poor show Saturday. I'm amazed at how they were the only people to have seen the first 4 even. Millions disagreed

Frampton wasn't trying to engage much really was he?

It was negative stuff from both men.

At this point I think that Quigg is getting far too much of the blame for the awful first 6 rounds. Frampton was very negative himself.

Joe is an egomaniac.

That is how he managed to see his masterclass unfolding, rather than the reality of Quigg doing bugger all and falling behind.

I'm not going to blame Frampton when he was doing enough to bank the early rounds...he didn't need to do more, but Quigg did.

I'll just say given the success that Quigg had down the stretch in this fight (I personally had him winning the final 5 rounds) I think he can win a rematch with Frampton. He just needs to keep in mind that next time it might be a good idea to start fighting before Round 8 no matter what his corner may or may not be telling him.

Just barely.

People compare this to the Fury vs Klitschko fight and I can certainly see the similarities, but Fury was winning his rounds fairly clearly, whilst Frampton was barely stealing rounds by slapping Quigg's guard a few times.

If Fury deserves blame for his fight being boring, then Frampton deserves even more blame for his fight being boring.

I'd love to have seen the final punch stats if Gallagher thought they were winning going into the 9th

A 10-9 is a 10-9, whether the fighter just eked it out or won it by a sizable margin. Frampton obviously wasn't doing much, but I think it's clear that he was doing more than Quigg and hence deserved to win all or nearly all of the first 6 rounds.

Neither Fury nor Frampton deserve blame; they took approaches which enabled them to accumulate points while minimizing risks against good punchers, and it's not like they were facing vastly outclassed opponents who they could've been much more aggressive against without having to worry about what would come back at them. It may not have made for the most entertaining bouts, but in my view boxing is about winning first and I respect the way they fought.

Quigg didn't win the 12th, not even close to it. I had him winning rnd 8-11 only.

I thought Round 12 was pretty damn close personally, I can certainly see Frampton winning it so I understood the 116-112 scores. It was definitely Frampton's best round of the last 5 without question though.

When the commentators kept saying they thought the early rounds could've went either way because not much happened I didn't really get that. Because yeah, not a lot happened, but the only thing that really was happening was Frampton's jab.

Jabs are mostly crap though.

Frampton's jab was nothing special.

Unfortunately this is a good point. Quigg gave the rounds to Frampton who only needed to do the bare minimum to win them, that's Quigg's fault, there's nothing to say Frampton wouldn't have done more to take the rounds if he needed too, he just didn't.

Cynical, sneaky, snidey little Carl Frampton.

Quigg seems far less like a tosspot than Frampton.

I don't disagree, but if a fighter was given me rounds for the bare minimum I'd eat them up too. You can't blame Frampton for Quigg's error.

I wouldn't.

I'd try to put on a show for the fans.
