I've always thought that Golokin can slip a Brook right, move inside, and do damage, all fight long.

Guess we will find out soon.
i would imagine hes intelligent and experienced enough to pay little heed to a sanctioned sparring clip, but i feel that it must be hard for him not to feel almost bullet proof going into this fight. on paper, brook has no chance , and with golovkin not knowing what defeat is, almost everybody predicting a massacre, and the seemingly effortless nature of his wins....golovkin could become complacent, and who could blame him.

Without a doubt, Golovkin will be over confident going into this fight - and who can blame him ?

He's never come close to defeat in years, has been effortlessly bashing everyone in his way, no one has really come close to testing him, and he's now stepping in with someone from 2 weight divisions below..

So if Brook can somehow land an almighty shot early - like Honeyghan did 30 years ago against another "unbeatable" P4P # 1 Don Curry - that over confidence could come in to play.

Not that I think it will, but it's got to be what team Brook are banking on.

Had a real think about this last night. There's just no way he's beating GGG. He looked superb at MSG in front of a full house and think he'll bring his A game again at The O2. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a lot of support.

I agree. I would say most people are going just to watch GGG in the flesh boxing, not to support Brook. I know Eddie says get behind your own but to be honest Kell doesn't really have the personality that appeals to the public.

We do seem to be talking about how Golovkin will win (my view: get inside quickly; others; outside via the jab and then ramrod), rather than whether Kell has a shot.

I was chatting with my Dad (who I'm taking) today, and asked him whether Hearns v Hagler was a comparable. He didn't quite call me a moron, but did say that Kell Brook is no Tommy.... I did try and point out it was a metaphor, but try telling my old man that....

I'm genuinely interested in views as to how Kell can win.
And Golokin is no Hagler.

Everyone does in sparring from time to time. So what? It's not as if we got to see the whole spar.
Completely meaningless. He could be sparring off the back of a hard training session for all we know.
Exactly. Could have been after a week of hard spars, running and weights. When Brook does start unloading Ingle can be heard trying to get him to go easier on Smith.

The only thing Dominic Ingle is saying is relax and don't go back in straight lines, I don't know how you have come to the conclusion that Ingle is trying to make Brook go easy on Smith, Smith was doing good ?

When Brook starts unloading:

"Nice and relaxed....nice and relaxed........don't turn it into a punch up"

Maybe because Brook would lose the punch up.

They're obviously working on tactics. He's not gonna go in and have a tear up with GGG is he? I'm thinking that phrase would've been used from the start to the end of the camp. Ingle will be drilling it in to him.

hardly telling him to go easy on Smith, turning it into a punch up would play more into Smith's hands, Brook is the boxer. Brook don't go easy on anyone in sparring, trust me I know.

I for one hope we one day see these two in the ring for real, but it may be like the bellew/clev fight where they would argue about who lost to the better man.

The same if Brook v Khan ever happens (which i think most people have given up on now.)

I did change that opinion a couple of years before they met. GGG is a different proposition to Gavin.

I watched an interview with John Molina Jr and his trainer where they pick Brook to win. they worked with him a couple of years ago and said he was exceptional and actually the naturally bigger guy.

I just can`t see it. However, what if we have all underestimated the weight thing? Maybe Brook is just as naturally big (or even bigger) than GGG. Then it comes down to boxing ability, chin and power.

What if the reason Brook struggled with Carson Jones was because he was weight drained? It got me thinking was I writing off Brook without doing enough research.

I watched many of Brook`s fights again last week and did a solid GGG session yesterday.

After all of that the conclusion remains the same. GGG should beat Brook with relative ease due to the simple fact that this appears to be a fight where one can can hurt the other but not vice versa.

Glolovkin looks an absolute special talent. He told a story of where his brothers would walk the Kazak streets with him when he was a young teenager and ask grown men if they wanted to fight GGG. He said every day he can remember he was knocking guys out on the streets of his city. I imagine they build them tough as well in outer Kazakstan.

Brook might be heavier/bigger just now and on the night but that doesn't mean he has a weight ADVANTAGE. Having extra weight when your not used to it is likely to affect your mobility, speed, footwork, even reflexes and fitness. He's not used to being that weight and going into a fight- GGG is. He's never been hit by someone that's a middleweight never mind a middleweight like GGG.
I think brook is a fantastic boxer but weight will be the defining factor in the fight- GGG is a middle weight and Brook may be one in the future but he isn't one just now.

spot on, will he be as fast, doubt it, Sugar Ray Leonard did not go up too much in weight against Hagler, as he knew that his speed and movement was the key, he even wore tracksuit bottoms with with coins in the pockets to make it appear that he was near Hagler's weight. Brook' s only advantage with Golokin is speed, if he puts on too much weight on fight day, he could lose that.

To be honest Brook would be fancied to best Macklin right now, but Golokin is totally a different test.

Brook probably wouldn't have beaten Macklin as impressively as the way Golovkin did, but I would still have taken Brook to win.

Macklin used to take risks and push himself to the limit, sometimes he left nothing in the tank i.e Jamie Moore, Brook would have landed big shots and Brook's great Jab would controlled a lot of the action.
