Re: Disappointed in Tyson Fury

I think he's damaged goods, will never get his form back and he's done the unforgivable - letting the tedious Wladimir Klitschko back in the mix.
Klitschko's great, it's good that he's still around.Autobarn wrote:I think he's damaged goods, will never get his form back and he's done the unforgivable - letting the tedious Wladimir Klitschko back in the mix.

The division needs all of the credibility that it can get.
Autobarn wrote:Ugh, the constant holding and pawing, the lack of variety. Jab and grab. Of all the major heavyweight champs in history, he's one of the least willing to exchange shots, is one of the most one paced and with the least daring and exciting offence.
He's effective, maddeningly so at times admittedly.
Enough was enough during the Ibragimov fight. Can't watch the man. Appalling viewing.
I don't think Tyson was emotional built to be a professional boxer. It's an incredible feat that he's accomplished what he has really when like you say he's quite a sensitive guy really.clopixolacuphase wrote:Like JimJim above, I think the biggest problem for Fury is the people around him. Tyson's a sensitive, emotional guy. He's said in the past that he fights for his family, but his family are a bunch of nutters: his aggressive, violent bully old man with a massive chip on his shoulder is an awful influence on Tyson, who again has talked about growing up being traumatic and witnessing domestic violence (which unfortunately seems to be quite common among the travelling community). I expect he has been told he is a proper fighting man and to just suck up his depressions for years: the macho culture he is part of probably doesn't have much tolerance of it.
He was never all that "us against them" until his Dad got out of jail. The elder Fury's, a bunch of proven, convicted, nasty violent gangsters, cannot blame their lack of popularity just on being gypsies. Tyson's views are ugly and he continues to spout them, saying he doesn't care what people think, yet clearly is VERY bothered by it.
You can moan about Joshua being more popular, but the kid won Olympic gold and became a household name on the back of that, so people liked him. It's not like he's achieved NOTHING. He might be media trained and boring in interviews but Fury is thought of as a c*nt by people who see him trying to be funny (not everybody thinks he's funny or clever: they think he's an idiot) and saying offensive crap. What do they expect?
I've watched a lot of Fury interviews recently and there have been loads, more recent ones, where he looks anxious, irritable, sweaty, like he doesn't want to be there, and almost close to tears. I do think his head is genuinely all over the place and, while I have never liked John and have come to dislike Peter the more I find out about him, think Tyson is a good kid at heart but will never be saved because he will always be part of that family and they will drag him down. I hope he sorts himself out and pulls through. I've worked with people like Fury and when you get a real depressive like that... They're a real risk. They kill themselves. All the best, Mr. Fury.
Oh. Mind games, obviously.

He should have just done what Mo Farah did - just don't answer the door (said he couldn't hear the drug tester banging in his door and ringing his bell for a full hour) and don't answer your phone and say it was on silent. Seems to work.lefty wrote:
World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury is embroiled in a fresh doping scandal amid claims he recently missed a drugs test.
As reports emerged that he had been found to be medically unfit to fight, we can reveal the fighter refused to undergo a check when visited by inspectors from UK Anti-Doping.
After the snub the boxer’s representatives contacted the drug testing body to reschedule - but that has not yet happened.
A source said: “Tyson was visited by testers over the last few weeks but just refused. He said, ‘F*** off’, and wouldn’t do it. His camp tried to contact UKAD to get him tested but to date that has not taken place.”

I would hazzard a guess that drugs (of the non performance enhancing kind) and alcohol are probably involved somewhere along the line.keithmoonhangover wrote:Lately, I've become mates with someone very close to Fury There's a lot more to this story than will ever be printed.
Just sounds like a product of his mental issues.lefty wrote:

Wouldn't be surprising, he went to Frampton Quigg to cheer on the same guy, then left before the main event.Loynesy wrote:Was he really at an undercard fight tonight? BBC seem to be saying he was.

Great post.JimJim2009 wrote:How much of it is him, and how much is the people around him ? Mick can't operate at this level if we're being blunt. He can guide fighters through but when they reach the top he can't do them justice - look what happened with froch, and look what happened when froch hooked up with an outfit that could promote and deliver at that level. Tyson is clearly a loyal man but he deserves so much better. I've nowt against mick but he can't deliver at this level. Those around Tyson should hang their heads in shame. The last 10 months have been a disaster and these guys are meant to be professional. Having a mercurial talent who is hard to handle is nothing new, and there are people who can do it well, it happens in all walks of life. The folk around Fury let him do what he wants and just moan afterwards about how it's not fair when the media run negative articles on him. They react to situations instead of handling him right. Tyson deserves better advice and better management, and a promoter with the right connections to make big, multi-million fights happen in a straight forward way. Tyson is only in this predicament because they conceded a rematch clause at the 11th hour, despite being in the mandatory position. What a disastrous decision that has turned out to be. Tyson should have had two successful defences under his belt by now, not be tied forever to a Wlad rematch due to contractual obligations. He was mandatory and didn't need to agree to a rematch clause.
