Yes, its very cringe-worthy. As are the Tweets we're now subjected to on screen during fight night....

"Wow! That fight was amazeballs #dogging" - Rio Ferdinand.

Are we supposed to care? Worryingly it shows the type of viewer Sky are desperate to appeal to.

I believe if Joshua gets done, Sky boxing will be over. With allegedly and the BT sport deal ramping up next year and the expense of sky, the Boxing fan will turn away.

What a good day that will be.

 there we have it....the essence of eau de Smith.....his lustful side glances at Johnny Nelson when they did ringside together.....the way he growls and talks over in ring action, refuses to commentate on the action unfolding, and starts rehashing pre fight build up......the reason is he actually has no journalistic or broadcast training ....he has no idea how the action in front of him is playing.....but the growling ...the as you so eloquently put it "erection in his voice" is apparent as he watches two men fight

dbf wrote:Some interesting point here. There should be more of divide between te broadcaster and the promoter. Sky pull the strings though and they want PPVs that sell. Eddies only PPV freighter is Joshua. He only fights 3 times a year. That leaves about 3-5 more date to fill. Sky know Haye sells ans they know exactly his numbers. So it was a no brainer from them. Eddie just does the donkey work. Thing is, Eddie has to rely on Haye, or other promoters to fill these dates or he has to throw his guys in the deep deep end (golovkin v brook). It's a worrying trend.

Also, Smith and Robinson, who are fans of the sport must cringe that they have to tow the company line when they know 100% this is a mismatch. A terrible, synical fight where Tony Bellew has every excuse possible if he loses and still keeps his world title. Hearn has to realise though even at this late stage of Hayes career he can punch and he will ko Bellew. He could be knocked out bad. Is it worth it?

Sky just can't compete with the American broadcasters. They don't have the finesse or the vision. Watch BT come into the sport. They will show how to present and package a broadcast.
Is it really the company line?.....sky don't do that with football, cricket or golf...pundits tell it like it is....why is boxing so different?....I would suggest its like this cos that's how Smith likes it

I could be wrong but from quickly going over the comments in this thread it seems that Smith really isn't very popular??

I don't know why.....he's very astute and always manages to spot how every single fighter has.....

"whipped himself into great shape" :brick:
