Yeah it is silly, but let's not act like people don't break binding agreements everyday for one reason or another.
Look I get what you're saying, as a competitor you'd like your peers respect. This is much beyond that and there is no excusing it if it is used as an attempt to break a rematch clause.
Agreed

Doesn't make one bit of difference to what I said, and why I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the result better
How does that change what I said though?

It doesn't change what you said I'm just glad we both enjoyed it.

Ward himself tried to do that by suing Goossen. I hope he learned his lesson.

This has nothing to do with anything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the fight ranging from a shutout by Ward to a shutout by Kovalev. It has no bearing on anything. But suggesting that a contract can be broken because somebody doesn't give you props is laughable at best, despicable at worst.

I don't care about their contracts.
And to revere anything labeled as "legally binding" in the US is stupid.

Great close fight. That level of skill in the ring from both competitors is rare.
The type of boxing that boxing needs.
But the energy sent out from Kovalev and his fans is that the fight was a farce.

What's stupid is for you to let people on the internet ruin your post-fight experience. It was a good fight with the majority of fans and boxing enthusiasts feeling the decision went the wrong way. Sounds like both you and Ward need to grow up a little and realize that you don't need to have everyone in your corner telling you how great you are in order to for you to approach the next day of your life. It's ok, it'll all be ok :salut:

Yes the wrong guy one doesn't mean it wasn't a good fight. So the guy u want to win didn't win so you just kill the fight as a whole.

Right... Because when the guy who won gets robbed -- the air is let out of the whole experience and it becomes a lead balloon... When the fight is close it's not like that... When 3 American judges all rob the Russian boxer by 1 point -- and the commission was bitterly criticized for appointing 3 American judges and an American referee -- then the fight is a joke, and should be roundly condemned.

It makes me sad that constitutes a great fight these days. Solid effort, high class for this era. Nowhere near great IMO. Top it off with the shitty decision and it's nothing I'll remember fondly. PS. BI, spare me your redundant blood and guts whining. That fight wasn't technically great.

If he said 'Andre, you were given the decision and officially won, meaning I officially lost, but I feel I deserved it', would that cut it as admitting defeat? Why is it unreasonable for Kov to feel like he should've won when so many scored the fight for him, and most of those who had it for Ward believe it was super close and could've gone either way? Criticizing a guy for feeling like the deserving winner in that context is idiotic.

It might work, and is it that bad of a thing to say? I don't think anyone is criticizing Kovalev for feeling like he is deserving of the win. He has a legitimate claim. Sometimes, you have to say what the guy (Ward - diva) wants to hear if you want to get revenge.

To me it comes down to swallowing your pride in order to get revenge, and make several million in the process. OR, you could go on saying you won - stand firm, and not get the rematch or the money. Sometimes you have to do what you feel is against your principles in order to get what you want.

Each time Ward opens his mouth, he's losing more fans.

The guy is on his way out of boxing.

And if he decides to vacate the belts, he will live in infamy ever after.

It's almost as if a second ass-kicking is programmed for him.

How the fvck would you know? You admitted from the beginning you were drunk and didn't watch it closely, so you were going to watch it again. Then you didn't bother to. Instead you come on here spouting sh!t about a fight you probably didn't bother to pay what little inebriated sense you had to after the second round.

You are what you so snidely accuse others of being; the target of your venom's most ardent fan. You and so many others on here literally love Andre Ward.

I just think he won a great fight (that I actually bothered to watch and score realtime).

If there is no rematch that is defnitely a bad look for the team that is unwilling to do the re. Fight was very close needs to be settled. We saw what Floyd did in similar situation

I am still thinking what kind of fight this could have been if Ward didn't know that he would win all of the close rounds. Maybe he could have tried to throw some punches? Do something more than just run and try to potshot... I mean this one had all the ingredients for great match.

If Ward would have felt like he needed to actually win the rounds and not just make nothing happen. This could have been great fight.

Stuff like this is exactly what is killing boxing

He threw just enough to 'win' and not get knocked out.
