That's not true at all. How about Justin Juuko? Like Marriaga he was coming to the title fight after the loss, but against MUCH weaker opponent than Oscar Valdez (49-22 Antonio Hernandez). Oh yeah, and it was a stoppage loss. And his another loss was a TKO2 loss to the fighter that ended his career with 27-18-2 record. Marriaga also had two losses, but in both those losses he went the distance against top opponents. Marriaga is better than Juuko. And Floyd needed more time to stop Juuko, who was well known for his glass jaw, than Loma needed to stop Marriaga, who was never stopped before.
Carlos Gerena wan't any better than Marriaga as well, and Floyd won that fight exactly like Lomachenko did today - corner stoppage after 7 rounds.

ok, I don't disagree. The overall point remains.

Just scanned through the fight. Reminds me why I never cared for ESPN cards, Testicletorre with his faux enthusiasm and Atlas being goofy, although less negative than usual. I bet him having Loma over Crawford P4P was the last straw for you.

As for the showboating, I've never cared for it but much of the time it seems to be in response to his opponents not fighting, so I can't really care too much.

I didn't know Teddy had him over Bud, but I don't have a problem with that anyway. The relentless David Copperfield comparisons played a big role. He wasn't negative because he's a hypocrite shilling for the network. If that was a GGG fight he'd be going berserk about what a shitty match up it was.

I'd call Garcia vs Loma close to 50/50, maybe slightly favouring the bigger man Garcia to make over power the more skilful smaller man in the championship rounds

I don't know man. I am a huge Garcia fan. He is my favorite fighter. But, in the 20+ years that I've been following the sport, Lomachenko is the best I've seen. He is superb.

It's not a fight I can call with confidence to be honest, I think it's so even. Loma is clearly the more skilled fighter, but Garcia definitely has physical advantages he can take in the fight

It's not just that, look at their chests. Garcia is huge in comparison.
Garcia looks like he could swallow Loma whole, chew him up and spit him out ... (which he probably will) ...
It's like a normal guy and a jockey.

Kind of a Mexican American version of Butthead.

Hopefully we will see. If Lomassiah defeats Mikey at 135 I will give him his due. Last night he looked like he would be vulnerable to a big, efficient boxer like Mikey. I was not impressed.
Of course, Lomassiah was yawning prior to the fight (like the rest of us).
If it was happening this year I would take Mikey by TKO mid to late.

It's not going to happen. Good thing for atlas, if lomachenko lost in front of him he might kill himself. Hypothetically, I don't know whom I would pick. Slight lean to Mikey.

Lomachenko would box Garcia's ears off. If they were the same size it wouldn't even be a question.

I think that Mikey roughs him up, times him, drops him and they throw in the towel between 7 and 10 with Lomassiah's face a hot mess. But who knows? I hope it happens eventually.

Lomassiah got nailed hard playing that game in the corner.
Btw, Stephen A Smith is embarrassing as a boxing analyst.
Loma will likely not play with Mikey. Also, Mikey doesn't move his head and body as well as Marriaga, nowhere close. That movement was a key to Marriaga looking game for a while.

Mikey does nothing that is not necessary. He moves his head enough. He feints enough. He throws enough.
I have never seen Mikey miss as much as Lomassiah missed last night.

Did you see him fight somebody who had a sole purpose to not get hit and moved like Marriaga?

Mikey would have thrown less, landed more, took less punishment, and legitimately ktfo Marriaga earlier.

Agree. The pre-fight with Smith and the other dope is brutal. Atlas is unlistenable at this point. I feel bad for Bradley.

There was none...you can do what you want. Those are just some reasons why i don't cheer against hm though... i consider him for what he is independent of the hype.

I strongly doubt that he would land more. He would land harder though.
... and I am not sure if he would be landing on Loma. Once again, Vasyl would fight him differently.
