Re: Usyk is the best cruiserweight ever

Though I don't agree with 90% of what Kalan says.
I like him. I guess he's grown on me

I don't care where Bowe was ranked. He refused to fight Lennox Lewis, who would have torn his head off... Lewis dispatched punching bag Golota in seconds.. Bowe took tons of punches from Golota who wrecked his career.. Bowe was one sad punched up target... Can you imagine Bowe going into that crossover Kickboxing fight unprepared -- not landing a single punch and getting kicked to death??? ... Typical Bowe. If he got paid well I'd understand him doing that.Ossyrules wrote:The hittable bowe is a good one, aka the ring magazine number 1 for a good section of the 90s, and hand responsible for one of the greatest top flight heavyweight trilogies ever
Even if he wins the Tournament he's probably still not there, but at least it's not a completely absurd conversation to have at that point.Tanzio wrote:If Usyk does not win the tournament, is he still "the best cruiserweight ever?"
Evander takes Usyks at Measuring the Evander vs Qawi vs where Usyks is now..I think Evander KO"s him and I think Usyks is very good..Jip wrote:I know you guys all think that only old school or old old school boxer can be atg or #1 ever in a division and boxer from 2000 till now are nothing more than good.
Take for one time your nostalgia glasses off and tell me 1 cruiserweight who had the total package of phenomenal footwork, punxh variation, control, balance, power & speed like Usyk has. You wont find nobody. Spinks and Moorer looked limited compared to this guy. Evander tremendous footwork himself but not as good as usyks. Also when talking about variety of punches, ring iq usyk just better.
I like Lennox Lewis, but around the time the fight was muted, bowe was possibly favourite.Kalan wrote:I don't care where Bowe was ranked. No ! Lewis has been better than Bowe (since 1988 to the end of their careers).Ossyrules wrote:I like Lennox Lewis, but around the time the fight was muted, bowe was possibly favourite.Kalan wrote:I don't care where Bowe was ranked. That fight was no foregone conclusion

After beating evander Holyfield riddick bowe was number 1. Lennox Lewis was on the way up and very dangerous, but also much more open than when steward took him on. Lennox is ATG above bowe, but at that time the fight was 50-50 imo
For me, it could have been, at least 51/49 Lewis.Ossyrules wrote:Valmar history is history. You can't rewrite itValMar wrote:No ! Lewis has been better than Bowe (since 1988 to the end of their careers).Ossyrules wrote:

Not for me. That fight was 100-1 in Lewis's favor. I can understand why Bowe threw his Title Belt in a trash can. He was wide open. I don't care if Bowe was a good brawler. He couldn't box or defend himself. He avoided big punchers: Tua, Mercer, Ruddock, Tyson, Lewis, McCall. All those guys Lewis fought.. Even little Herbie Hide punched the Hell out of Bowe for 3 rounds, but Hide was his favorite kind of opponent -- a Cruiserweight who couldn't hit.. He stayed away from big heavyweights with dynamite power.. Golota couldn't blow his nose without help from somebody, but he's in better shape than the hapless Bowe.Ossyrules wrote:Valmar history is history. You can't rewrite itValMar wrote:No ! Saying a fight between 2 best in the division is 100-1... there's no point taking these kind of posts seriousKalan wrote:Not for me. That fight was 100-1 in Lewis's favor. Because I also figured underdog George Foreman was a 100-1 favorite to beat favored Frazier by my odds.. Why NOT??? What does it matter if they were rated the 2 best Heavyweights or what??? Bowe was more wide open than Frazier was.. Any great puncher kills a guy who is that easy to hit.. They get rid of them real quick.. Some jizzbo's even favored Golota to beat Lewis.. Why? .. The Foul Pole was another guy you couldn't miss with a punch.Ossyrules wrote:Saying a fight between 2 best in the division is 100-1... there's no point taking these kind of posts seriousKalan wrote:Not for me. That "small gnome" Dwight Qawi is a legendary Hall of Famer who dominated a loaded Light Heavy division before moving up to Cruiser!! Evander beat Qawi twice, the second time by brutal KO4.Jip wrote:What did holyfield do to be considered #1?
Boxing lots of nobodys like pikey, fighting a small gnome in qawi. Qawi and de leon where very good, but not super impressiv either. So holyfield beat 2 good cw in a back than weak cw division and therefore he must be #1?
What did usyk do to be considered #1?
In only 13 fights holyfield did nothing but defeating taxi drivers (except qawi). In the same amount of fights usyk has been defeating back than #1 ranked cw in glowacki, top 15 mchunu and ex champion huck.
You have my vote on that one, at least I agree Lennox wins, maybe inside the distance. I think if Bowe thought he could beat Lewis he'd have had a shot at it.Jip wrote:Why are you comparing me to kalan![]()

Huck fought as good or better opponents than what qawi or de leon fought.Best Coast wrote:That "small gnome" Dwight Qawi is a legendary Hall of Famer who dominated a loaded Light Heavy division before moving up to Cruiser!! Even Carlos DeLeon would beat most of Usyk's top victims. The ONLY way Glowacki, Mchunu or Huck even get CLOSE to the HOF is if they pay the admission fee like everyone else!!![]()
Usyk is a very good fighter and could one day be a great one, but you are clearly jumping the gun by calling him "best cruiserweight ever."
Lewis beat bowe in the amateurs and was just overall better than bowe. Would have had a chance? Sure he would. If you are tall strong and have determination anything is posdible. Bowe couldve rahmaned lewis. But the favourite wouldve been lewiscandyslim wrote:You have my vote on that one, at least I agree Lennox wins, maybe inside the distance.
