One thing that is missed here by those who say the gangsters should 'take it on the chin and move on' is the old Doyle Lannigan quote from 'The Sting' which basically says that if you let one person get away with taking liberties everyone will come for you. They rely on fear to keep people in check so the concept the Wig would give a free pass to someone who clobbers his dad for no reason is just daft.

Yeah, I'm from Belfast and I regularly spend time in Dublin for GAA events. A good friend of mine (from Derry) who lives in Belfast was present during one of the killings.
I had introduced him to The Sunset Bar when walking down from Croker back to the train station. I always thought it was a good spot and had great banter with The Dubs in there.
Anyway, he was down for the League Final between The Dubs & Kerry and ended up staying over... Then the next night, there was a shooting in that bar, and the guy died.

Yeah the IRA "punished" them to eliminate the competition, they weren't moral guardians they were flogging the shite themselves.

Pretty sad day when these guys can be in the papers...reporting how much money they ve made out of drugs and yet still be able to operate...even openly posting death threats to people etc.

Has it ever been as blatant tho. The media can compile detailed dossiers of what these people are getting up to. I can probably tell you the drug dealers etc around my area...and yet the police don't seem to know/care or be able to do anything about it. Sad day for a lot of areas nowadays where you,ve got a lot of the places under the control of drugs etc and no one able to do a thing about it. The police seem to be too busy handing out parking fines. Makes you wonder why you pay taxes.
Its really easy if your unable to catch these people within the current laws...change the laws.

They could very easily kill the illegal drug trade by making recreational drugs legal but that's never going to happen in our lifetime due to pandering towards conservative attitudes.

Let's be honest tho legalizing drugs isn,t gonna help the overall problem. Will just make them more accessable to more people. You,d have a bigger problem on your hands imo. Sounds like a good idea...but let's be honest all the teenagers would be on them before long. You,d probably have half a country on them.
Just fail to see with the intelligence etc they have nowadays...they can't stop them from bringing the drugs in. They know where they come from. They know who,s supplying them. They know the method of transportation. They know most of the docks etc that bring them to...and yet still can't stop them getting in. What's the point in making the airports hard to smuggle drugs into and yet... basically have no system of stopping boats etc bringing them in.
Even the money...there's guys on them lists worth 50 million. And yet never had a job in their life. I understand they launder a lot of that money. But surely theres a way to work out that someone that isn,t working can't be worth 50 million quid.

Conor was in court in Ireland today on a speeding offence. Theres a video on twitter of him leaving court. One of the journalists asks if he has been threatened or his life in danger and you hear Conor say "Come and get me".
If Conor thinks he is king of Ireland and untouchable this whole thing is probably not going to end well for him.
