Wilt Chamberlain was famously strong! :box:
jamamb wrote: 03 Mar 2018, 06:21why is it that you can also have slow big punchers and fast light punchers
Foreman's a great example of the former. In his case, his body was really planted and solid when his punches landed, so most of their force continued travelling through his opponents. Force dissipates along the weakest paths, so no matter how much power you have, if you punch a thick wall it all comes straight back down your arm, and a person leaning against it on the other side doesn't feel a thing.

Lighter fast-twitch punchers can sometimes generate fantastic power through acceleration, but if they've structural weaknesses (like wrists and shoulders), a big chunk of that power fails to drive through their target. Speed + technique + weight - energy loss on impact = power.

Wilder has sensational speed for a heavy (when he punches correctly), 15st is plenty of weight, and his frame's sturdy enough to drive the bulk of that power through chins without complaint. He might not be such a hard body-puncher, since his height probably counts against his technique and harms his leverage (shorter arms and legs are advantageous in powerlifting). But then who knows. I wouldn't volunteer to be a test dummy!

I do wonder what he'd do against someone who covers their head really well at the cost of their body... Remains to be seen if he'd move downstairs.

I'm probably in the minority here but I don't see Wilder as the big puncher most do. He's beaten mostly guys who didn't want to be in there. The Spilka, Molina, Duahapaas all took clean shots from him and stayed in there. They wouldn't take those shots from Lewis and stay in there. He landed cleanly on that internet troll guy with a left hook and the guy stayed upright. His left hook isn't his big punch I know. I'm looking for Lewis Rahman 2 style KO's when someone talks about being a big puncher at heavyweight.

I rank him similarly to Haye: not a one-shotter, but with enough power in those singles to buzz most people for a setup to finish. Stun-inducing power at speed.

He'd be super-dangerous if he didn't get geed up and windmill after landing.

Nah his power is overrated. Technique is awful, doesn’t set his feet probably. If he did then maybe. Wlad was much much more powerful single hitter

Szpilka KO was much more brutal than Lewis' KO of Rahman, although Rahman KO was very spectacular.

iam not saying he is great like fighters before him, i mean now i cant name a bigger puncher, and he can still bang a fighter with one punch even in the later rounds

I love boxing, all weights, but there’s nothing like a potentially top heavyweight fight to get your excitement up. Used to buzz for days when I watched Lewis as a kid.

looks like it. His opponent was peeing blood BEFORE the fight. Hospital involved and commission looking at it. Can't see it happening even after being told to glove up!

It’s easy to test urine for blood, it just takes a simple strip to be dipped in it. Medical staff will have them.

They were saying it might have been beetroot or cranberry juice, it can discolour urine, I imagine they were just getting the urine tested. It takes seconds to do if you have the equipment.
