Across the 3 judges scorecards, Eubank won 7 rounds on at least one judge's scorecard.
Groves landed 84 power punches to 75, and 33 jabs to 17. It was a competitive fight.
The alternate judge to be used in the case of a draw to advance one fighter into the tournament final scored it 115-113 to Eubank.
He's a fornicating shit judge then. Groves won it clear.

Mildly concerning to say the least.

I had it about the same as the judge who had it 115/113 for Grove the commentators ruined the viewing they had the fight over by rounds 6/7 they need to call the fight not predict what the outcome while the fights on i had to turn the volume down by round 9 there were some close rounds especially early round 5 i thought Eubank won that round clearly but one of the commentators had Grove winning it Eubank tactics were dumb but still George did enough to get the nod.
Did you take into consideration the 2 knock-downs that should have been counted , or did you not see those either ?
NO You cannot add knockdowns when the Ref didn't put a count on Eubank I was surprised the 2 Commentators didn't though
Ok fair enough. , I look at rounds with my own eyes and not through a referee.

There was a fight that happened in the last year or so that we covered on a RBR thread, we basically all scored it the same way but then the judges & pundits all saw it the other way - anyone know what fight I’m talking about? I’m racking my brains trying to remember but can’t think. Or maybe I’m imagining it

It is ok comparing them like that but add in the percentange.
Groves total landed % - 29%
Eubank total landed % - 21%
Not close at all.

some guys compubox stats (a person does them real tme) dont really say much more than the fact that nearly all had groves winning clear
even stats clearly edged groves and tbh the dfference imo was bgger than the generous to euban stats show

Groves won, but I wouldn't say he schooled Eubank. It was an ugly fight to be honest.
Groves tried to school Jr but did get caught by some wild, wild left hooks in the process. Then there's the cut and the shoulder dislocation. If that's not a close fight, what is?
The Guardian comment was spot on, though in this case I think it's a pretty good summing up from a ringside view. Thus spared the appalling UK tv commentary.

Think your talking about the Japanese fella who lost pretty much every round but got the decision against the feather fisted American with cross eyes (sorry about the lack of names, baby kept me up for 2 days and can’t be bothered getting my scorecards out)
I had Groves winning 116-112 and I feel thats as close as Eubank can get.
Groves didn’t even box well. Couldn’t keep the distance well and didn’t ramrod his jab like he did in his prime.
If he was on his game he’d of taken a step back and landed a huge one on him early when he was windmilling, with his chin in the air head bobbing forward like Churchill the dog.
Eubank showed ability against Abraham and towards the end of BJS. Ones on the slide and ones unfit, BUT both have pedigree and Eubank looked like he belonged.
Just bizarre. Trains himself. Wraps his own hands as badly as I’ve ever seen. 15 people looking on saying nothing.
Losing every round, no-one says a word.
Needs to be humbled. He had a spell in the Mayweather gym.
Love to see him go Wild Card, have his gym wars but feel insignificant enough in the talent packed gym to be humbled enough to learn.
Senior isn’t stupid. Read the son the riot act. Always presumed Sr wore the trousers. It’s Junior. Listens to no-one whilst Sr gets his five minutes of fame.
He never gets another payday like this unless common sense prevails. His record suggests he’s a world level fighter. He’s got zero direction.
You can have the fastest car in the world, but it still gets lost with a moron behind the wheel.
At least Marvis went out swinging. Had enough of all this NextGen BS. It’s not horse racing. It’s not in the blood. It’s in the pedigree and mindset.
The phrase that springs to mind is the priest from Father Ted.
‘Cowboys Ted, there all Cowboys’

Eubank looked like a fool out there. I mean cmmon the guy was missing haymakers practically every minute of the fight. Other than the last round, Groves was controlling and winning practically every round convincingly.

pretty much everyone ringside and even jrs own dad in the corner had it for groves. the guardian got mentioned in the very first post of the thread precisely because its such a big outlier. the blaming the commentary angle is weak and for the intellectually shallow to cling to. i watched it on mute and could see that groves was a clear winner. the idea that a cut and a shoulder dislocation mean it was close is f@cking laughable

The majority of Eubanks shots did not land flush, they were cutting shuffling shots .
That should be cuffing, scuffing shots.

I watched it live at the arena on Saturday and then again just now and both times I had it 8-4 Groves although I do think there was a knockdown (in the 10th I think?) so 116-111.
I don’t think it was as one sided as some have made out but you always felt Groves had everything in control up until his injury.

Groves was smothering a lot of the 'landed' shots or absorbing them on gloves and arms too

I gave Eubanks 3 rounds.
