haye's finished
Re: haye's finished
He is clearly finished as a PPV star now and, in hindsight, has been finished as a genuine threat to the division for a few years.
He should retire now and concentrate on promotion. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and get one more win.
Haye vs Price anyone??

Didn't he get £2.5 million for the rematch? Even if being skint is true he must know he's not going to get any big pay days in boxing anymore.Deserter wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 07:27I'm not so sure his finances are quite as rosy as that. There are a lot of rumours regarding the fact he's blown through a lot of his money. Sponsorship deals will be hard to come by now and it's very hard to make good money as a promoter.Controversial wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 05:05 I’m surpirsed he’s still not announced his retirement. He’s in a far better position than most fighters, he’s a multi millionaire, has good sponsorship deals and his own promotion team. You would think he would just be happy with his achievements and accept his lot.

He managed to con a lot of experts into believing he was back to his best for Saturday night and i'm sure he could con a few more in the future.Controversial wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 09:21Didn't he get £2.5 million for the rematch? Yeah but he had the benefit of the doubt first time with the injury, this time he just looked shot, I doubt anyone will believe him anymore. Even those close to him are telling him to retire.bigjack wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 10:17He managed to con a lot of experts into believing he was back to his best for Saturday night and i'm sure he could con a few more in the future.Controversial wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 09:21Didn't he get £2.5 million for the rematch? I wouldn't at all be surprised if he angles himself towards Fury. There is unfinished business there. I can see this happening towards the end of the year after Fury does away with old man Briggs.

Nah,he's pulled out of too many fights to give a toss, and then fight with a bad injury.
Re: haye's finished
Haye is completely washed up. If he goes on he will soon be entering RJJ territory. He's sucked enough money out of the sport. His farce vs Audley even prompted sky to bin PPVs for a while. He cost Fury around 18 months of his career. He put in a woeful showing vs Wlad then blamed his toe. He knowingly sold the fans a stinker twice vs Belkew when he must have known his body wasn't up to it. Just retire, excellent cruiser legacy intact but his stint at HW is now officially a joke.

Well he doesn't look finished sitting on that bench!
In fact, we can now look forward to Haye Day III: The Return of Mark De Mori; Haye Day IV: Shannon Briggs (obviously by 'public demand' as all Haye's BS fights are) & culminating in his final fight, Haye Day V: The Revenge of Arnold Gjergjaj!

Re: haye's finished
I've put my finger on what was so gutting: it wasn't really the loss, it was the attitude. Haye was furious after his knockdowns last time, and he'd always had one of the most venomous mindsets when he was in trouble. Else he'd never have come back to win several of his fights.
But then all of a sudden it was que sera. Maybe that's just where he's at physically and no amount of rage can change it, but he's never been that accepting of defeat before and it was a shame to witness. I'd rather not see anyone go out on their shield if it does lasting damage, but even Haye's haters had praise for him last time, and all agreed that he'd have beaten Bellew a few years earlier. Whereas this fight has served to underline his slide in the most disappointing way.
“Bruce, you gettin' beat by a man with titties. C'mon, man.”

it wasnt his attitude that made him lose clearly he is unable to get through a camp uninjured.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 21:08 I've put my finger on what was so gutting: it wasn't really the loss, it was the attitude. Re: haye's finished
Someone pointed out that Adam Smith said Haye was rumoured to have flown to Germany again in the week before the rematch, you can hear Smith say this between the 4th-5th round. I'm surprised that never hit the press but that seems to suggest his achilles still wasn't right. Maybe this is why Haye isn't quick to retire, he's probably blaming the second loss on the injury again.

Re: haye's finished
That's fair enough if true (I've no trouble believing it), but if he can't beat Bellew semi-injured then he can't beat the big guns fully fit any more. I sympathise with wanting to go out on a good performance, but it's difficult to see who that might be against right now.

Re: haye's finished
Just got to watch the fight after returning from holiday,
What struck me about this second fight was that haye didnt seem to have any idea how to deal with Bellew in this fight. He didnt seem to have any fight plan at all. Bellew seemed to me to be able to control the whole fight right from the off to the stoppage in the 5th. The writing was on the wall from the 3rd round after the 2 knock downs and Haye didnt recover from that.
Im not sure why the corner didnt throw in the towel in the 4th as the writing was on the wall. There was nothing left for Haye and it surprises me that an experienced corner couldnt see a loss coming and maybe pulled out Haye from taking any more punishment.
To sum it up for me Haye had no idea in that fight what so ever and I think Bellew knew that too.

Yes I agree. He should have never tried to trade hooks with Bellew, Haye never had a decent hook so a bizarre tactic to employ unless he just knew his ankle was knackered so he couldn't get any leverage into his right. I read that Gary Logan (Hayes former coach) left the arena after the 4th round as he couldn't watch anymore, that says it all really.Mimmy wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 06:30 Just got to watch the fight after returning from holiday,

Re: haye's finished
Whilst 95% of boxing fans agree that haye is finished, I don't think he believes it himself. I'm sure he still thinks he could win a title or two at world level. He has had a superb career however, the longer he goes on the more tarnished it becomes.
