The circumstances are different for this fight though. That's the entire point.

Name the times in history when a fight was planned between an American and a UK fighter where the UK one was making ten times that domestically that the American was.
You don't understand how these types of fights work.
Look - we know what's happened here. We've both asked an essentially rhetorical question. You know money making fights happen in America over Britain, but you also know that there's not really a historical precedent for a champion like Joshua earning so much more than a champion like Wilder.

In a related point, it seems odd that you refer to what Joshua has been doing as treading water. He's won three of the four heavyweight belts in the last two years and earned more than Wilder has done in 40 fights. It's not bad for staying still.
Dirk, I can’t remember if it was you questioning (telling) Spud something about something he actually worked on, now you’re pulling rank on Terry! Are you really Britain’s Al Haymon or something behind the scenes? Your knowledge is off the scale!

29,000 British came to Vegas for the Mayweather vs Hatton fight. The week of the fight is still to this day one of Vegas Casinos biggest money weeks.
This is why and how this fight will pay Joshua 50 million and Wilder over 25 million.
The fight will make Vegas a ton more than they are willing to pay out.

Not at all. I'm asking about a precedent where a UK champion was earning ten times as much as a US one. My point all along with this is that Wilder is a million miles away from the massive US names of years gone by like Mayweather, Tyson and Holyfield. He's never headlined a PPV and is largely unknown.

He has plateaued since Klitschko so needs this fight. The sums will more than add up Stateside as every American believes that they know everything there is to know about heavyweight boxing. It will also play to the idea that the heavyweight title is still an inherantly American possession. It will be a 'boxing's coming home' moment for them and they will just adopt Joshua as their own if he wins. Wilder's good TV figures will parley into the overall PPV total. If Sky have any sense they will make it a crossover PPV night and throw a show together for the first leg of it.

Well considering that Joshua is out drawing Hatton' s numbers. The big boys in Vegas are counting on it

Hatton built that support gradually and it was a different type of boxing fan. A lot of joshua's fans may see a fight over there as some kind of betrayal of their core tenets. The casinos are more likely to bank on the high rollers turning up to be part of the event rather than wondering whether Tim from Luton will spend 50 cents on a slot machine to blag a free burger and beer.

To fly from England to Vegas and spend 8a week in a hotel ain't cheap.
It's not going to be 50 cent gamblers showing up

All ringsides are given, with suites, to high rollers with huge credit limits. 10 of those guys can lose AJ gate receipt money.

But you are ignoring the PPV element of the fight which is where the bulk of the money is generated. For starters Joshua v Wilder is NOT PPV in America. Sure they could put it on but that doesn't mean it will do buys.

It would be over here regardless of location but a UK PPV starting at 10pm sells more than one starting at 3am in America. Sure Hattons fights against Mayweather and Pacquaio were at 3am but they were against the biggest names in boxing in their peak which were also PPV in America.

I doubt the Wilder fight does more buys than the Klitschko fight. Wilders just not a big name globally like Klitschko.

Yes, but Wlad was just a name. Everyone knew Tyson had just beaten him.

What amazes me is that people are more concerned about if the fight makes money than the possibility of the 2 best heavyweights on the planet squaring off.
Hearn is obviously happy with the 50 million.
Joshua is happy with the 50 million.
Negotiations are taking place so obviously proof of the 50 million have been made.
So why the hell does anyone care if Haymon, Hearn or the Vegas backers lose their shirt?

Just get excited about the fight coming to fruition

You can guarantee it. Vegas isn't as expensive as it was in 2007 for Brits. It is now seen as a stag do venue. And many of AJs fans will go for the hangover style shenanigans.

Joshua needs referee stoppages against punch bags, wilder starches them cold. Bruno did the same vs punch bags. He hit harder than Joshua too.
Does he? Not at a decent level he doesn't. Didn't starch Ortiz, didn't starch duhappas.
Wilder has put people to sleep in the ring. Bruno also put people to sleep. I'm talking about having someone kipping on the canvas. Wilder and Bruno did that to their punch bags. Joshua needed referee stoppages. Its ridiculous to say he hits as hard as Bruno or wilder. That doesn't mean he can't KO wilder of course. But to say his power is on par just isn't realistic I'm afraid.
There's also different types of power.

Wilder has pretty fast hands so it's the punches you don't see coming that can knock you out. He's also unorthodox so fighters ain't sure where the punches are coming from.

Joshua is more of a classic boxer (don't read too much into that :D ) so wears fighters down more than one punch kayos.

But I'd say their power is similar, but different - if that makes any sense at all

Of course. The fight clearly makes more money in america.
Except nobody has demonstrated how.
You spent about 5 pages on the last thread arguing the same and ridiculing Wilder's bid as not genuine.
Joshua's promoter has repeatedly said that the fight makes more in the States but you still won't have it.

Decision time for AJ. Does he man up or is it going to be the swerve for the easy pickings in Cardiff?

After initial discussions with Wilder's people - not the more recent ones - Hearn himself came away saying the fight could make more money in Vegas.

Since then we have heard all manner of postulating and chest beating between the teams, but Hearn's initial evaluation - before egos started to get in the way - was the fight could make more in Vegas.
