If you can't have some learning fights when you're 19 or 20 when can you have them?

Wilder was having these kind of fights in his late 20s.

Yeah, kids need a chance to learn their trade. Dubois is a baby at heavyweight. They can't all be an Ali or a Tyson and be ready to rule at 20 or 21.

Benn gets a wee bit of stick too on occasion.

But no one is talking Connor Benn up as the future of his division.

Also, Benn has had a few competitive scraps already, which isn't a good thing consider the calibre of opposition he has been facing. Being a bit rubbish probably gets him a bit of a pass in the opponent department.

I don't mind Dubois having a few fights like this to be honest, he is only a prospect. Besides, it looks like he will be going for the British in his 12th fight, which isn't bad at all.

Yeah potentially the future of the division.

At some point in the future, not now.

Time will tell but let's let him learn his trade first and see where that takes him. There's no rush. Even If he's challenging around his 20th fight he'll still only be 22 or 23

I think Dubois has something but I also see a lot of vulnerabilities at this stage due to his immaturity. Chin obviously hasn't been tested yet either. Still needs nurturing at this point. He's got some growing to do physically and emotionally, still a boy rather than a man.

I sort of did some investigation into Lartey's past stoppages and can't really see any significant KO's there, so Dubois probably isn't going to get his chin checked in this fight. Lartey looked in shape so good on him.

This is going to be a blowout.

this is a showcase fight not a learning fight, i dont mind dubs opposition so far though

Heavyweights are known to mature a lot later though. Benn would struggle to win a area title, Dubois has obviously got potential to be a very good fighter. He's a work in progress and it will be very interesting to see where he's at in 18 months. He will still only be 23

In terms of the title on offer, what exactly is the 'global' strap all about? Also in ranks of WBO belts where is that ranked amongst their belts?

I don't think the wbo could even answer your question

While none of the belts have exact meaning, if you regularly fight for a bodies regional/penta/inter/international/continental/global belt, you can guarantee these bodies will look after you.

The best thing about the Dubois/Lartey Matchup is we finally get to see that Lartey does, in fact, exist. Not just a ranking holder for the WBO.
