He goes rounds without falling apart, so I don't believe that he's lazy in the gym.

Ruiz has had 3 fights in the past year. He's working hard since taking off some time after the Parker defeat.
Under the pressure he'll face vs AJ, Ruiz will fall apart. He's not been in with a top dog yet. Parker wasn't that guy.

He's pulled out of many fights because he wasn't mentally right. That's lazy, and yes, being a fat slob is lazy too. Looks like he's getting the fight, hope you enjoy it. I'd rather watch law and order reruns.

As a replacement Ruiz makes sense. So much sense I'm sure it will be him.

Pressure should be on Hearn to get Hunter a big fight if he doesn't land the Joshua June 1st shot.

I'm checking amateur results and can't find this
hunter stopped ruiz (competing for mexico under his real name andres ponce ruiz) in the 2007 world boxing championships in chicago. third round of the fight. it for sure happened you just needed to look more. and there used to be footage of the ending online and hunter was just teeing off on him. it wasnt just some slap and run amateur style thing. hunter also beat oscar rivas

no way would ruiz would pick him apart. ruiz isnt good enough to do that to hunter. even kev johnson won 3 rounds of 10 vs ruiz recently. shot liakhovich was competitive. yet michael hunter, who already stopped ruiz in the ams, gave usyk a good fight, and is looking good at hw, isn't?

cant agree, i simply see no basis for that

1st thank you for posting the results. I did not look under his real name

But amateur results do not translate to pro results.
Hunters defense appears porous to me.
I would back Ruiz to out land Hunter and win at this time.
Sense this fight will not happen anytime soon it is all speculation.

Instead of announcing the replacement , instead Sky/Matchroom announced the WBSS deal.

I quite like Hunter me, might be too small to beat the big guys but he's got a good engine and if any of they big fellas gas then they could be in trouble, he's a bit of a throwback and doesn't seem to have the ego that the rest of these HWs have

He's the type that can come up with a good game plan and execute it. I've said before I think he can give AJ more than a few rounds of competitive boxing. I wasn't always very high on him, but he's grown on me.

If he can make it competitive then it could bode well for Usyk

I've never been one to cross-reference fighters like that. I don't think Usyk would be a mismatch with AJ. But well know more after the Takam fight, hopefully.

Are you surprised? It's not AJ, it's Hearn.

Naming big names.. low ball offers... playing it under the radar. All old school promotional tricks to make it appear no one wants the fight.
We all know it's going to be Hunter since he's part of team Hearns.
Just make the announcement and let's hope for a good fight

None of this should be taken as gospel but hear is under the gun with this dazn disaster so I'm sure all of these b side offers are low.

I'd be a little surprised if Hearn didn't offer similar money that Miller was getting.

I mean they gotta be desperate to get a significant name in the ring for their US debut...

I’m sure we’d all like to see how much Ortiz was offered.
Miller money should be expected, perhaps a little more.

I always thought that a Miami fight between Joshua and Ortiz would be fantastic.

I'm sure Ortiz expected Miller money.
But I doubt it was close.
The fight already sold to mainly British fans coming over. No sense in breaking the bank when Hearn can put more in his pocket
