7-3 Ajagba.
I liked Demirezen, however.
If he had power, he might have contender potential.

Ajagba showing pretty good stamina here. He still had solid power throughout the bout, it's just that Demirezen was tough enough to hang in there, and had good enough defense as well to stay competitive.

Ajagba certainly deserved it.
The fans boo because they expected more dominance and a highlight knockout from the touted 30-1 favorite.

Re: Efe Ajagba vs. Ali Eren Demirezen - July 20, 2019
Odds can be misleading. Ajagba was such a heavy favorite because he's been seen, and people know about him. It's not that he's THAT much better of a fighter than Demirezen, just that much more recognized.SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:59 Ajagba certainly deserved it.

That's about what I thought would happen - as close to an Ibeabuchi / Tua as we've got in today's HW division.
Demirezen's chin was really impressive, he just kept coming. Ajagba couldn't really unload fully, but he boxed well and got a LOT of in-fighting experience. His chin is pretty damn good, too, he took a lot from Demirezen.

The record indicates that. But I didn't see it.oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:58supposedly he does have power.SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:57 7-3 Ajagba.

As Teddy Atlas used to say about fighters with a lot of KOs on their record: is it real power or is it just the caliber of opponents?

The Turk has a granite chin. He could well be a European title challenger as he gets more experience.dagilechia wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:53 Ajagba may not look impressive but to be fair the Turk is not bad, far from being a tomato can like some suggested
6-3 or 5-4 Ajagba

I think Ajagba's got a hell of a chin too. He took everything in stride.oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:58supposedly he does have power.SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:57 7-3 Ajagba.

He looks so damn calm in the ring its ridiculous.

Yeah. A prospect that has barely gone rounds should never be that heavily favored over almost anybody.oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 20:0030-1 is ridiculous.SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 19:59 Ajagba certainly deserved it.

So what's the more impressive win for the day? Ajagba over Demirezen or Price over David Allen?

Ajagba STILL needs lots of work, but he got in some much needed rounds of experience. Ronnie Shields will have some good adjustments for him to work on as they review the tapes of this one.

Ajagba over Demirezen, by far, imo. Allen's very very limited, of course so is Demirezen, but i have no doubt that he is a better, busier, harder hitting, more durable fighter than Allen is

Ajagba & Demirezen have FUTURES ahead of them whereas Price & Allen are dead-enders whose better days are behind them. That counts for much.
But CLEARLY the best HW bout of the day was Whyte over Rivas!!

we got a very good HW night:

LOL! I got every fight wrong in some manner. I have some thinking to do about our ratings. Whyte's win was terrific, and Rivas showed he's no stiff.dagilechia wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 20:10 we got a very good HW night:

Everybody looking for Ajagba getting a KO win was wrong. I told Demirezen was not a joke.
Yet, it was never enough. Ajagba won, fair and square. I got this 7-3.
But, i know deep in my heart, if Ali was trained right and worked enough since he turned pro, he coulda win this fight.

It's how the KO artist moved the opponents around when he laded. Whenever Atlas says something like that, it's a tip off he does't like that guy.SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 20:01The record indicates that. But I didn't see it.
