I think the lass does a grand job but fck me did she say a stupid ass thing during the live broadcast and then repeated on the podcast this week
"Do you think AJ is now showing vulnerabilities?"
Uhm, no love, I think he is still looking a flawless, dominant world champion
Yeah, but all sports presenters have to do that sometimes.
What's she supposed to do? Go; "Okay, well we all now know that Joshua has showed some vulnerability, so we'll end the show now. Goodnight."
Sometimes, there's not a lot you can do other than state the obvious.

I'd need to see more photos before I could make a decision
I'm still not entirely sure what the debate actually is.
OP suggested that because she was a female, she hadn't gone through proper selection process. And most people pointed out that the male ones probably didn't have to either.
So it now seems to have become whether she's competent at her job, and what her job entails discussion. We might as well delete the opening post, and retitle the thread; "Let's discuss Anna Woolhouse."

I'd take Woolhouse over bounce any day, not only is she is more pleasant to look at and listen to.
But she doesn't give a barrage of opinions that no one asked for, she let's he guests do the talking.
I appreciate Bunce's passion and there is certainly a place for him, but for a live television broadcast you need a consermate professional like Anna running the show.

Whereas Anna hasn't. Who would want to live in a wool house? That would just be ridiculous. Imagine the scenes when it rained?
I meant Jo Ankier was related to someone on these boards.
As for a woolen house... You are clearly uneducated in the properties of natural wool fibres which are essentially water resistant. Even so, I'd go for a mohair and take my chances on the rain... Who wouldn't want to live with tickle-ly walls?

Yes mate, she is related to me, she is a cousin. She was at a funeral in Brighton with my parents two weeks ago and was telling them how much she is enjoying the BT Sport gig. Truly lovely branch of the family.

Looked her up and saw that she went to The Henrietta Barnett school...top, top, school. Not easy to get in, so good for her.

Can you ask her what recruitment process she had to go through to get the job, and ask if it differed from the men?
how well-informed do you reckon Adam Smith was on boxing, before he got his gig at Sky?
Exactly. Same as Dempsey, Dave Clarke, Dickie Davies or almost any other presenter on British TV's history. Exceptions might be Gary Norman and Jim Rosenthal, otherwise they are there to frame it all, not provide expert analysis.
A more pertinent question might be what was the interview process when Adam Smith awarded himself the job of lead commentator. He's enthusiastic, chairs press conferences well, decent interviewer, probably a good head of department but no matter how much he wishes he was he just is not a competent commentator.
The lass who is on free sports isn't a 10 (just a normal looking girl), but she's a good presenter...... well done free sports for using someone not purely for eye candy. Appreciate that might sound like a sexist post - believe you me I'd be chuffed to bits if I was dating her, but she's not your typical skysports news presenter.
Nice to see Anna's predecessor at sky making strides in America - she's a bright one by all account.
Ok, ok I'm giving up. We all know how she got the job .
Sky Sports being run by people who are part of the 'metropolitan liberal elite' realised that to conform to their equality and diversity agenda they had to find a female for their boxing department.
They had a look around, somebody suggested that Miss Woolhouse may be a suitable candidate. The executives responsible invited her for a chat and liked what they saw.
They then got her back in and asked if she'd like the job and the increased salary to which she answered yes.
Miss Woolhouse having no previous experience of boxing ( although always liked it ) started doing her research, and hey presto she's now a boxing presenter until her next move comes along.
That is the way it goes within the big business media world.
Somehow the whole process doesn't sit well with me. Probably something to do with my old fashioned ideas of fairness and integrity which no longer seem to be relevant today.
But I'm off to the golf - and the wee white ball is going to get one almighty battering.
There's no place for a split Harris in boxing. Sling em back to the kitchen.
Ever heard a female football commentator? Utter gash. Just sounds forced and wrong.
I'm not for positive discrimination at all. I want Ricky Keys talking about smashing IT. Not some tarted up bird posing and pouting on a sport she Ken's nowt about.
If I want eye candy or material for the bishop bashing bank I'll go on porn hub.
I want regression to the 70's. This snowflake PC nonsense does my kipper in.
Give em a few quid and tell em to get lost cos the boxing's on.

I'd wager laila ali has forgotten more about boxing than you've ever learned

Metropolitan liberal elite? This is a Rupert Murdoch owned business.
As far as the on screen men's credentials, Smith had been in Sky since the mid-90s and had been reporting on boxing so evidently had been around the sport and had some relevant body of work prior to becoming a commentator circa 2000 (though I like everyone else on Boxrec dislike his style). Johnny Nelson, Carl Froch, Matthew Macklin et al needless to say are qualified to analyse boxing (whether or not we like them), so I can at least see the logic in having them present boxing.
Anna Woolhouse was an ice hockey presenter, then read the news, then presented netball, then F1 (etc). She doesn't seem to have much experience in boxing, so it seems somewhat disingenuous to mock the notion that telly execs might have put her in her current job for reasons other than her knowledge of boxing. I did see Nelson once try to put a fight in historic context with a reference to Archie Moore (or similar) which was clearly lost on her. Not surprised some people are irked by her complaining about boxing fans saying mean things about her when she does seem to have waltzed into her enviable post ahead of more deserving people. Think I'd prefer the foul-mouthed but hilarious Jane Couch!

She's fine at her job mate. We all have to live with things we individually may not like. For example, nonsensical italics in a biography of a respected British middleweight of the past, who some may feel didn't get the biography he deserved because of the ineptitude of the layout.
Easy to have a go from behind a keyboard isn't it.

Lol and Ian Darke was white. I mean what the f*ck is going on here?
Quite a big anti women vibe going around this forum. Politically, sports wise and now in the entertainment industry. Bit weird how so many big tough chaps are threatened by half the planets population.
