borderline cheating?
it's either cheating, or it's not cheating........ did he elaborate? did he refer to holding, or was it that he punched Froch in the face a lot?
I mean the accidental, not so accidental headbutts type thing. You see that in a lot of guys. Holyfield and Bradley for instance also did that.
I don't call his style cheating, it's just a rough style.
Orlando Salido was a rough guy too. Rougher than Ward.
Some guys are just a hard night like that in the Pro game. They're gonna push the rules to the limit, and make the referee earn their money. Nothing wrong with that. It ain't ballet.
Spot on

Nothing wrong with it, except when the ref is on the payroll too like in Mafia Vegas.

I would've liked to have seen what would've happened if Kovalev had retaliated with low blows I'll just say that.

He sure didn't appear to protest the shots nor the stoppage.

He shouldn't have had to protest the shots. The referee should've done his job.
For the record I'm quite sure Ward would've beaten him anyway, but winning with illegal blows means he didn't win in a way that I'm ever gonna give him credit for.

I find it curious. Makes me think they were more borderline than you believe.

I've seen the footage, and the final blows numerous times. They were well below the belt. It's not hard to see.

I'm just looking for an explanation of why Kov didn't protest those shots or the stoppage.

Looks like he does protest to me. I mean he didn't jump up and down, and make a scene, but he looks like he's asking the referee "What the hell?" when he stops it.
As soon as he's able to talk that is after shaking off the pain radiating through his groin.

Where there post fight comments by Kov about being fouled? I mean, right in the ring right after his marbles stopped clanging.

..are you implying that if the boxer doesn't complain being hit in the balls somehow justifies the stoppage?

What's it matter?
If somebody shot you, but you didn't call the cops did they still break the law? Does it make it ok?

It's not my argumental point. It's just a question. I don't recall it happening. Just curious.

I merely asked a question. I don't give a shvt either way.

Obviously they were low, low blows on a guy who was on his way out anyway. Ward could've finished him without any questions but if you have eyes and are not biased about it you can clearly see they were low. If I recall they hit the bottom of the writing on Kov's trunks, which were clearly well low.

Nothing to do with my question.

I just watched the highlights again. Of course they looked low, but I'm still wondering why Kov didn't put up a protest. He looked like he was just glad it was over. That crushing right that Ward landed earlier in the round was beautiful.

..you could be right, (un)fortunately we'll never know for sure thanks to that clown of a referee..

Ouch.
I just heard Kov complaining after the fight for the low blows. Max actually asked him if they were "low blows" or "borderline low blows." Max is an a$$.

Indeed. Tony Weeks jumping in at the moment he did he should've been shouting "Ho, ho, ho...that was low, he's got 5 minutes to recover" that whole spiel.
Some fights are just like this. Any time they get brought up it's a discussion, and a bit of an argument breaks out.
Same with JLC vs Mayweather or Hagler vs Leonard. Sh*t like that is why we're fans I guess. Such a multi-faceted, multi-layered sport.
