Martin Murray says Gennadiy Golovkin was fearsome but Billy Joe Saunders has earned his respect

As bad as it sounds, Martin Murray could be Saunders' toughest ask to date at Super Middleweight - his title fights / defences at 168 have been pretty poor - this continues it but arguably Murray might start favourite against his opponents.

Murray vs Saunders 6 years ago at Middleweight would have been a cracker.

Yes, agreed , would have been competitive at least .
I'd dearly love Murray to knock him into next week but can't see it .

Other than Andy Lee, Murray is arguably Saunders toughest test.

Has BJS ever genuinely fought someone world class despite being 2 weight WBO champ?

Yeah I would say the versions of Lemieux, Monroe and Eubank Jnr that Saunders fought would be favourite vs the current Murray

Same, I'm one of the 3 who voted for it. Hope it isn't a snoozer like the Lemieux fight- good win for BJS, just hard to watch.

Feel for Murray. Proper pro whos been unlucky not too have beaten a HOF in Martinez, fought everyone and been competitive against most, but when you see his name, yer just bored before it starts.

This is just gonna be a slow paced, fcuk all happens for 12 rds, close but wide, type of BJS win.

Mad when you think this is Murray's 5th title shot but first in uk, i would love it Kevin Keegan style if he somehow pulled it off, Saunders has looked gash up at Super Middle

I get the impression that if Saunders puts in another boring performance tomorrow he could be in trouble with Hearn.

He should try and BOSS Murray and put in a slick performance. Or even try and trade a few rounds. :box:

murrays not really someone who's had it rough for fairness all things considered. 5 f@cking title shots when he's lost the first 4 and really doesnt have much notable for wins and is boring. and he's gotten lots of fair shakes. split was generous to him vs abe, i thought sturm beat him but he got a draw, and there was no funny business vs ggg either. obviously well beaten by groves and ndam and cards showed it fairly.

his hardest break was vs sergio, prob shoulda got credited with another kd and you can certainly argue he got it. that said, even then he did his typical thing of not pushing enough by dropping prob the first 3 and then slowing down and clearly losing the last 2
