I think its a close fight. I dont think Kow can learn to be defensive though. Think he just needs to rumble fowards with volume. Hele isnt special defensively and isnt particularly dangerous if you stay on his chest.
few People think hele is a sure thing... i mean, other than cracking Kow last time his last good win was chisora 10 years ago... and wasnt that a robbery (cant remember). lost to fornicating washington. Hele isnt top 25 probably. this rematch we might get a better idea of if Kow is decent or bad or somewhere inbetween.
Helenius is a solid top-20 range fighter. He's inconsistent, but he's good technically and can bang. Well-prepared he can perform.

He’s also one of the most scared big men I’ve seen lately.

Kownacki: Delay In Helenius Rematch Taught Me To Put My Trust In Time
Adam Kownacki long ago acknowledged everything that led to the lone defeat of his career.
Moving on from that moment—a stunning fourth-round stoppage at the hands of Robert Helenius last March at Barclays Center in his Brooklyn home base—wasn’t difficult. Having to wait nearly two years to avenge his only pro loss, however, provided a little bit more of a challenge.
“The delay in getting to the rematch taught me to put my trust in time,” Kownacki told Boxing Scene of the career-long 19-month layoff heading into his October 9 rematch with Helenius. “These things happen and I really couldn’t do anything about that. I just had to trust that we would get to the fight. That’s what my team has been working on nonstop since [last March]. I just focused on doing my job and let them do theirs.”
Kownacki (20-1, 15 KOs) boasts a powerhouse team that includes manager Keith Connolly and adviser Al Haymon, two of the most influential figures in the sport who helped position the Polish heavyweight into title contention. The journey was momentarily derailed after Kownacki—a huge crowd favorite in Brooklyn—suffered the stunning loss to Finland’s Helenius (30-3, 19 KOs). His team has remained hard at work in securing a home for the rematch
The year-plus long search led to an undercard placement of the previously scheduled July 24 trilogy clash between lineal/WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) and former WBC titlist Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) atop a planned ESPN+/Fox Sports Pay-Per-View from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Those plans were stalled once England’s Fury reportedly tested positive for Covid-19, causing a postponement.
The next available date for the show was October 9, putting a full 19 months in between the first fight and the rematch. It wasn’t an ideal situation, though it puts both Kownacki and Helenius—who hasn’t fought since scoring the upset win—at the same disadvantage.
“I’m not worried about being out the ring because he has been, too,” notes Kownacki. “I used the time to my advantage, training almost nonstop and focusing on being in much better shape. We took a couple of weeks off here and there once the fight would get pushed back, but never falling into (bad) habits.
The main thing has been remaining in shape and staying ready for this opportunity.”

Out of interest where did you rate him just befor the first kownaki fight. Hele is a opinion dividing man. Although I don’t think he looks bad, I can’t get away from his age combined with it being a decade since a good win (which was a robbery)… that was my pre kow opinion. Now I got him fringe to 25 kow rematch will determine that.

I like the viking.
I thought he had Whyte hurt, then broke his hand.
He has been a bit injury prone. And often doesn't get a full camp before fights.
When he fought Kownacki, he had been in shape and injury free. And the result was he won.
If he can repeat that is another question. But I feel that if he isn't hurt going in, and has been doing his cardio, he can do it again.
It remains to be seen if Kownacki has made adjustments. It would only take a little head movement and a high guard to make him a 50% better fighter.

He has been in my top-15 for sure before losing to Washington, I remember it with our top 15 thread. I didn't pick him to win Kownacki for the first bout, but that was more because of his age and the Washington loss.

he is somewhere around 18-25
for all his flaws, unimpressive losses, etc.........the kownacki ko win is still one of the better ones in the division last few years. very few have done a better result

Not sure what kownacki can do differently in this one
But helenius is hot or cold
Personally I'd have preferred helenius was rewarded with another stage fight after destroying kownacki before but the curse of the rematch strikes again.
I can't see kownacki doing much else at top level whereas Helenius on his day has a lot of skills

Helenius looked great at the weigh in.
Kownacki looked a lot trimmer around the mid section, so much so that his loose gut skin lapped over his trackie pants waist band.
Interested to see how this fight pans out.

Kownacki showed up in a quite regular fat version of himself. His team blames only his previous gameplan probably.

Unless that’s how he always looks?

So, everything went as expected. Helenius dominated and stopped Kownacki. There's a gap in class between them.

I think more like styles. Kownacki wouldn't lose to Seth Mitchell 2.0, Gerald Washington. Helenius looked great. Didn't get injured or fight scared.

Helenius probably was under-prepared against Washington and underrated him. He's a good boxer, just inconsistent.

Yeah, agreed there. Cold and hot. I always like him, but it's frustrating. He could lose to Gerald Washington in one fight then beat Kownacki in the next.

Pretty sad it looked like Adam wanted a way out and didn't want to take what was inevitable. I really enjoyed Helenius' work before the blatant nut shots lol.
