Mad isn't it, likeable guy to, marketing means dream.
I spoke to a couple of friends last night who are more casual fans. They go to the big fights but don’t watch everything. They loved the Billy Joe fight and build up last week but neither knew Taylor was fighting next week and one hadn’t heard of him.

It takes a lot more than fighting on ch5 early in your career to be built and promoted properly. Obviously being with Bob has helped get him this fight but he should look to get a contractual guarantee over having a fixed U.K. network. Fighting on different platforms every fight won’t help him out at all.

Oh my God this is going to be such a hard fight for Josh Taylor, you just know it’s another 12 round war.

Josh Taylor is what boxing needs, a rarity, a pound for pound claimant from somewhere as unlikely as Scotland. And truth is Jose Ramírez is just another in the endless parade of Mexican sluggers, great fighter but dull personality and almost faceless to the general public, in that we’ve seen it so many times before. I’ve seen him quite a few times, I think, but would be hard pressed to recall much about him other than I know, obviously, he’s a hard hard bastard.

And he’s just the type of hard bastard whos going to throw a spanner in the works.

I know it’s undisputed and all that, but it’s not really the type of fight that Taylor needs, it’s not high profile enough; the prograis fight was huge, but this almost seems a step down... The Mexican has no profile and I guess this is part of the reason this fight is so much under the radar....

Pretty good. TR build-up videos have been quite decent in recent times.

Agreed, I'm still sticking with my original prediction of Taylor via decision but it's going to be a tough contest for Josh this. Can't wait.

So many voted Taylor decision.

Wouldn't it just blow us off the couch if Taylor scored a KO :yay:

People seem confident Taylor will win. I think it’s a really dangerous fight. He’s fought abroad in WSB and Amateur but not as a pro. The Vegas time difference always has an effect. I’m not as confident as everyone else.

Totally agree that it's a dangerous fight, just feel Taylor will do enough on the night to win a decision but Ramirez will make it very difficult I'm sure. It's the type of match up we all want to see.

Buzzing for this, my man Taylor is gonna solidify himself as Scotland's greatest ever, forget the fact that he's Scottish its a great unification between 2 unbeaten champs for all the marbles, Taylor's got the better wins but Ramirez has a solid slate as well, Taylor has size and Ramirez has the engine, both quality operators who dont mind a dog fight, both body punches especially Taylor, that Khongsong KO was sickening, looked like he ruptured something,

I think this will go to the wire but wont be surprised to see Taylor KO Ramirez late, either way its gonna be fcvking mega

I think Taylor is the better all rounder- he can box and move as well as liking to mix it up on the inside- and I see this as a big factor in his being favourite. Seems to me Ramirez has to out-bang him to win, Taylor could win a couple of ways

I agree, and he deserves to be the favorite, but I think many are underrating the boxing skills of Ramirez. He is sneaky good.

ramirez looked pretty clueless for much of the zepeda fight, and seems to just fight coming forward. he has an educated way of doing that, but defo think josh has more skills overall and more ways to win. he still needs to be at the top of his game though, cause rammy gonna bring dat intensity

Yeah, will be interesting to see how willing to engage Taylor is. He seems to me to have a Calzaghe type thing about him, wants to not just win but impose himself from the start and throughout the rounds. If he engages early and it’s working, fine, if not does he adjust or does his ego keep him banging? Or does Cautious Benfold bring him out there ‘not wanting to get too greedy’ when he’s landed shots and he boxes cautious at the start?

I think Ramirez will throw the gauntlet early and Josh will gladly accept :yay:

Ramirez seldom looks flashy. He is not especially quick. He does not throw an abundance of punches. He is not especially powerful.

He just wins.

He also does not get caught a lot. He stays focused. He lands at a relatively high %. He looks to create opportunity.

I suggest that people rewatch the Postol fights. Notice how the Ukrainian chose to deal with each fighter.

The key to this fight may be body shots, which most favor Taylor on. The result may be shocking.

disagree on abundance on punches, i think he's got a good work rate and to me he's a well conditioned pressure fighter, it's what got him back into a fight he was widely losing to zepeda. simply grinding away vs a guy who'd been out boxing him.

id agree that he's not particularly fast, no particularly powerful. in most areas he's solid but unspectacular, but i do think when it comes to stamina and pressure he's up there

problem i see for him is that taylor is good at everything rammy is good at, and then also has some more speed and polish to go with it. its a fight that can go either way, but i think taylor has a bit more room to work with

I should have said “over abundance.” He certainly throws enough to win. More importantly though is that he lands enough to win.

He can also fight decently from distance if necessitated.

Everything about him is sneaky good, not great. In that way he appears to be the antithesis of Taylor.

In this fight I believe that Ramirez will have to come out of his shell more to win; display his full potential if he has a further upside. He will have to be less conservative, take more risks, and let his hands go a bit more to win.

He’s been in Vegas for weeks so should be well adjusted.
