I've taken my framed poster of earnie shavers down off the wall and replaced it with one of savanah marshall.
It just felt like the right thing to do.

Looking at the state of Bridge's eye yesterday after her fight, and then looking at the mammoth male that is Dubois sitting out a count with a swollen eye. Maybe you shouldn't laugh at women's boxing quite as much.

Surly Shannon Courtney isn’t meant to be good looking or sexy? I’ve never seen her before last night.
That was the first sky show I’ve watched in ages due to finally getting a fire stick. I didn’t like much about it tbh.
What’s with the creepy music during the announcements?

Never mind Hearn’s hyperbole. Savannah is the real deal! Lovely relaxed style now with Fury that you rarely see in female boxing. And she has spiteful power. Anyone with two good eyes can see she’s a proper fighter. Did exactly what she was supposed to last night against a late replacement who was levels below. Rather that than not box and waste a camp.

And compare that to the other world title fight, I can only say the Aussie and Courtney showed bottle and pushed themselves hard but there was zero ability, no jabs or combinations, they have no punch variety or footwork or angles or head movement, just a pub fight, which actually turned out to be fun.
Marshall on the other hand showed all of those qualities and if she had been a fella last night, fighting against a journeyman, we would be raving about her potential.

these days any chick who dyes her hair blonde and isnt overweight automatically gets deemed sexy. i dont find her a looker, though she does have those chubby pinchable cheeks that nans love
plus dudes have lower standards for female fighters, i remember dudes seriously suggesting that rousey was a beauty lol

I think Marshall could have beaten some male journeymen last night.

Savannah Marshall has a good boxing physique. Broad shoulders and very long arms. Her and Tommy Fury should have a child. It would be able to do up its shoelaces whilst standing stock straight.

Seeing 2 world champions in Marshall and Courtney demonstrates in spades the biggest problem in women's boxing and that of course is depth.
The likes of Marshall and Taylor can really fight, but it's tough for them to find competitive opponents.
So much so that even many of the other champions let alone challengers have a dire standard.

I think women have a higher threshold for pain than men.

Who told you that, a woman who’s had kids? Been told it for years and then they have a breakdown over a headache.

I've seen plenty of blokes break down over a headache.

Give them 3 minute rounds and 5 years more strength-in-depth and the only people moaning will be the usual sauropods.
Courtenay vs Bridges was a riot ! I don't know how you can love boxing and not enjoy that fight ?!
The build up was fun, the weigh in a perv-fest, the fight Itself was close, intense, bloody, swung back and forth... and, THERE'S the respect.
If only Courtenay had lost it by brutal KO it woulda been Brit fight of the year.

It was a good fight as both are poor. I’ve seen plenty of good fights with raw novice amateurs. This shows boxing in a poor light not a positive one. It shows arm chair fans just how easy it is to win a world title today

Well only if you’re a woman and even then it’s easier rather than ‘easy’

It's true, often a couple of cute fighters who know how to box make a boring fight as they cancel each other out.
On the other hand willing free swinging novices with no defence and can't punch make for a barnstormer.

All true, I enjoyed the Brat v Ebanie Bridges far more than I enjoyed Joseph Parker v Junior Fa.

I take it for what it is. It's a sport still very much in its infancy. Don't forgot we've only had two Olympic games with women's boxing in. I know women's amateur boxing has been knocking around forever, but now that it's recognised in the biggest stages going mean it can only continue to rise.
I thought Courtenay vs Bridges was an entertaining fight. Was it the best technically, no way.
I don't think it will ever reach the numbers the men do, or the technicality. But it can match it for entertainment value. Even in the last two or three years, these women have improved so much. I hope it goes the way MMA does an in a few Olympic cycles time more and more of the top women start to turn pro and earn some decent money.
It's a shame that Marshall has pretty much reached her pinnacle and all she's doing now is waiting for the Shields fight.

Off the top of my head there are only 3 female boxers of any quality:
Savannah Marshall
Claressa Shields
Katie Taylor

I’d love to see a Jean-King vs Riggs type match !
