Ali was deluded in the build-up and his trainer, Angelo Dundee, must have known that Ali stood no chance. It was a shameful night for the sport, particularly as Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years later at the age of 42.
Yep not to mention the tests he struggled with at the Mayo Clinic before the fight as well

As Pacheco said " everyone involved should have been arrested. It was a crime". Who can forget Dundee and
Bundini (anyone read his recent book?)arguing and manhandling each other in the corner. To be fair to Dundee,
he was the one snarling at the ref.

Ali actually failed a drug test prior to the fight, which was swept under the carpet as long as he didn't fight
in Nevada again. They even dyed his hair because he looked so old/jaded.

Boxing's biggest old goal in history. Front page news all over the globe.

Honeyghan vs Breland was very sad to watch. :verysad: I would have loved Lloyd to give Breland a shoeing and on another day in another year he might have done...

It was a terrible time for boxing, with the the Ali fiasco, the Johnny Owen tragedy, the Hagler- Minter riot, the Watt-O'Grady bloodbath and the Duran No Mas all within the space of a few weeks.

It seems like it was a pretty poor secret that Ali had Parkinson's way before 1984. He didnt start shaking until much after his formal diagnosis.

Ali clearly had speech issues after the Norton 3rd fight ...I'd even argue there were times in the Foreman build up that his speech was quieter at times

There was a study conducted by speech scientists from a university into the first public signs Ali showed of affected speech and they reported slurring and slowed down speech in 1978. Six years before his Parkinson’s diagnosis. They said the speed of which Ali spoke had slowed down 26% from when Ali was aged 26 until he was 39. Absolutely amazing he managed to win the title for the third time when he was obviously suffering from the early onset of Parkinson’s disease.

Watching Levander Johnson live taking a beating against the ropes knowing he was in serious trouble and it needing stopping but wasn’t, and sadly he collapsed under the barrage of punches died, was by far the most sickening thing I’ve watched
