The same thing crossed my mind post fight.. Suddenly, Canelo has 3G power, at higher weight classes. It would be entirely on brand for the Mexican Mafia prima donna.
you know, the likely Cartel influence in the career of Mexican fighters isn't a subject that comes up very often, but given the cartels omnipresence in Mexico, IMO it'd be naive to assume many if not most fighters have 'ties' (at the very least) to the cartels
is there any specific link that has been found with Alvarez? you just can't see the big guns in the cartel seeing all that moneymaking potential on 'their' patch, and not wanting a piece of it. or all of it, maybe

They get, and do, exactly what they want, which is why I would assume significant cartel involvement with Canelo.

i read a few books about the mexican cartels
one thing that stuck with me......killing guys from a rival group, making a soccer ball with their faces stitched on the outside, and then leaving it for the kids in the guys town

When saunders started dropping his head down below his own waist you could see what was going to happen , he had already tasted a few uppercuts so this was really stupid .
I can only assume he was in panic mode by then having run out of both ideas and energy .

According to Ben Davidson Billy was telling him not to pull him out, which contradicts what Tibbs said post fight

Has anyone in modern day boxing ever fought on for long with that type of injury?

Of course!
You could see in the corner he had enough as he was gently shaking his head... he didn't want to know... of course, they will spin the shite out of it but it won't fool a single person who watched it.
And nobody knew the extent of the damage as Davidson was trying to talk him into going out for the next round, the cornermans endswell was on the swelling which I don't think would have been on there if they knew the damage caused, they must have thought Saunders took a fair old shoeing in that round and had enough... which is fair enough.

Saunders certainly learned something about himself the other night, he is in the majority of people when it comes to going to the wall.

Which may be believed by those too stupid to look at the fight footage that clearly showed him sat there totally deflated with body language reading QUIT very clearly.
Canelo`s heavy hitting; its been very noticeable how he trains with big emphasis on power - before the fight you had Saunders doing his tippy-tap punches on the pads ... whilst Canelo was doing those single swiping power punches on the big pad.
His style is based around the power shots breaking people up as fight progresses; of course it will be his undoing too ... someone with a bigger dig to dissuade Canelo a bit more, and with more resilience than Saunders will take a decision off him ... I dont think it will be too far away to be honest. He may just be relying too much on it now.

Tibbs clearly said he didn't like his body language. He was the chief second.

No but all the keyboard Rambos on here would
DDD fought on for a few rounds with the same injury.
I haven't read one keyboard Rambo in any of the discussions stating they would - but know of a certain self styled Rambo stating he would .. but didn't.

Exactly right and why BJS is getting all the harsh treatment.
