True
Hobson did brilliantly with Clinton IMO. Was he with him all the way? That’s how I’m remembering it

He billed a show he narrowly outbid another UK promoter for a ‘For a few dollars more’ didn’t he?Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 08:39 TrueHobson did brilliantly with Clinton IMO. Was he with him all the way? That’s how I’m remembering it
No, I think Wazza outbid him, hence the jibe. I was there. Bolton, Khan on the under card, Johnson 3. Clinton won.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 09:42He billed a show he narrowly outbid another UK promoter for a ‘For a few dollars more’ didn’t he?Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 08:39 TrueHobson did brilliantly with Clinton IMO. Was that when they got Calzaghe on the phone afterwards and tried to talk up a fight with Joe and Clinton? Pretty sure Dennis told Joe and Frank to do one and they just ignored him.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 09:46No, I think Wazza outbid him, hence the jibe. I was there. Still plenty to get excited about:
I’m the same, loads of Japanese, Uzbek, Kazak and Aussie lads, and even one Tajik I’ve been following.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 May 2021, 21:58thanks mate -- you tooDelta Jay wrote: ↑14 May 2021, 18:13 I’d be interested to see everyone’s age and amount of in-depth experience next to their posts on this thread. I can understand why anyone would be frustrated with the product it has become, especially Sly Hype Machine and Mr. Barrera Morales
I had a wobble during the pandemic but I can’t wait to get back to the live shows.
Have to shout out Maggie T and Boxing Prospect, hardcore as anyone I’ve ever spoke to and very current.![]()
broadening my interest to boxing from all around the world, and at pretty much any level, has been big for me keeping interest.
i reccomend to anyone wanting to try it.......go search up some prospects you've never heard of, from anywhere, and start following them. boom....there is some added interest there.

A shame. Would have been an excellent fight and probably Joes third best win fourth at the outsidemaverick23 wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 10:25Was that when they got Calzaghe on the phone afterwards and tried to talk up a fight with Joe and Clinton? From memory this was pre Lacy and clearly they’d struggled to get Joe a big fight. Would have been a good one but if Joe took the fight at light heavy then we may not have seen the Lacy or Kessler fights.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 12:23A shame. It was definitely a Wazza show, live on ITV. Good fight as well.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 12:22That was Wazza’s show then?mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 09:46No, I think Wazza outbid him, hence the jibe. I was there. Good post, were the same age. I think the UK scene is bad now, too.Allas wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 12:57Just turned 28 myself but the British scene has been annoying me for a few years. Used to think moaning about how it’s changed with Matchroom made me sound a bit pretentious, as if I was trying to be a hardcore, but it’s fully vindicated. The amount of idiots attached with them and Sky put me off - Bellew, Nelson, Coldwell etc. Everyone is just trying to be famous and on camera. I watched a few videos from the ‘bubble’ this morning and in 3 of them Stefy Bull came and gatecrashed and got his face all over the camera. Every time I go on YouTube to see what’s happening on the scene it’s just the likes of ‘Sam Jones honest reaction’. Who gives a toss what a salesman who’s fell into boxing because it got turned mainstream thinks.Delta Jay wrote: ↑14 May 2021, 18:13 I’d be interested to see everyone’s age and amount of in-depth experience next to their posts on this thread. Been out to America to watch boxing and will be doing again once restrictions allow. Prefer anything but British boxing at the minute.
Christ I’m a miserable fcker.
I’m pretty much exactly the same in all aspects of what you just said!Allas wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 16:23Used to do footy every week home and away alongside boxing trips a few years back until I got a missus and house...was always gonna pick boxing if it came to one or the other. I like a good boxing trip more than a footy away. Been many good countries
But now and then you see a belter fight don’t you and you get all excited and fall back in love. I’m really excited for a few fights and the Olympics.
I don’t think it was. As far as Sky’s concerned their PPVs (if reported numbers are to be believed) performed loads better after giving Matchroom exclusivity.high tower 1 wrote: ↑16 May 2021, 08:18 Giving math room exclusivity on sky was the thickest thing they could do.
