Yes I think they won’t fight him on strait wbo terms 1 fight deal. They might fight him with a rematch clause but they don’t seem very keen.Allas wrote: ↑25 May 2021, 03:40They can spin it how they like, talking about how it 'may not make business sense', but it's clear as day that they're worried about fighting Usyk.gregregegg wrote: ↑24 May 2021, 23:38Hearing Eddie talk about it I’m not so confident. he talked about Ruiz 3 in the states, looked horny for that, also mentioned whyte in uk and Ortiz.... I think he is scared usyk will accept the wbo split no rematch clauses then and that’s AJ/eddies biggest fear.
if usyk gives a rematch clause I hope it’s incredibly generous to usyk (75-25 usyks way kinda generous).

Whyte now wants to fight AJ next
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Chris Arreola - Aug/Sep 2021?
Whyte was poleaxed by a healthy Povetkin and won the rematch that should not have taken place due to the Russian’s debilitated condition.
Where’s Canelo when you need him? “Get the fvck out of here!”
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Chris Arreola - Aug/Sep 2021?
Povetkin was well past best the first time around.
What's Povetkin's true height? `Probably around 5'11" and shot to bits?
What's Caleos true height? Maybe just under 5'8", built like a tank and absolutely prime?
If they made it right now, I'd back Canelo and probably by KO. He could probably outdo Whyte and never touch heavyweight again.
What kind of numbers would a 'catchweight' between Andy Ruiz and Canelo would do around cruiserweight? I bet it would be insane, Andy would make it, and Canelo would bang his drained fat arse out. Millions all around.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Chris Arreola - Aug/Sep 2021?
Both Whyte and Joshua avenged fights they never should have lost, against terrible versions of their conquerors in rematches.
That said I think Whyte needs to have a bigger victory, something just above the level of say Parker and Rivas, and then it would be easy to hype a Joshua rematch.
Whyte v Arreola could be exciting, but doesn’t seem terribly ambitious. Would love to see him vs Ruiz, and I don’t believe, after seeing the “improving” Ruiz, the consensus that Whyte has no chance of winning.

A more relaxed and controlled Joshua wouldn’t perhaps have given Ruiz the openings that he was able to pounce on.
That said these defeats needed to happen. We’re very enjoyable and crested event rematches.

agree on aj, who rushed in wildly, disagree on whyte
whyte was boxing plenty measured in the first povetkin fight. he hardly even threw a punch in round 5 and didnt turn up the heat after the first kd either

it's not ppl screaming lucky punch here, it's just acknowledging that he took a poor approach
it was very easy , at least for me, to predict that aj would box more cautiously in the rematch and win easily, which he did. but omg josh is finished! ruiz is such a beast! big 3 = fury, wilder, ruiz!!

And AJ boxed extremely carefully against both. Parker wasn't allowed to throw punches and Ruiz didn't train. His record is very patchy post Wlad.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 May 2021, 16:30 about as good as joe parker. 'fit' andy was the one who fought arreola last time out

- Povetkin and Pulev, prime or not, were unquestionably top 10. Both solid wins at the time regardless of age.
- In the ref's view, Parker was leading with his head, even if you believe he wasn't, he could've changed his approach but he was unable to land anything of note. Unbeaten champion at the time and is still a top 10 guy.
- With Ruiz, although he lost by KO in the first, AJ beat him widely in the second fight. Both do get considered when assessing his record. When you consistently fight top guys instead of cherry-picking you will end up losing a couple.

Not quite - Tyson was out the ring for over 2 years when AJ won his first belt. Deontay thought he was getting an easy fight and a 30% Tyson deserved the win.mickey1975 wrote: ↑29 May 2021, 01:32That's the whole point. Wilder and Fury have been the top guys of his entire reign. Yep. Wilder was champ for 5 years with no unification fights. He only took Fury because he thought he’d be an easy touch following so long out of the ring, ballooning in weight and limited opposition in the months before the fight. A 30% Fury showed how sloppy Wilder was and how much of a natural fighter he was.joshj909 wrote: ↑29 May 2021, 04:59And that's Wilder and Fury's teams' fault alone.mickey1975 wrote: ↑29 May 2021, 01:32That's the whole point. Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Chris Arreola - September 2021?
Dillian Whyte to fight in September in U.S
Eddie Hearn wants to get WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte back in action in September in the U.S. Having Dillian, 33, fight in the U.S will help attract interest from American fans when he fights for a world title in 2022.
Hearn says he’s looking at different options to match against the 6’4″ ‘Body Snatcher’ Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs), who is coming off an impressive fourth-round knockout win over Alexander Povetkin.
Whyte avenged his loss from a year ago against former WBA heavyweight champion Povetkin.
Dillian Whyte to fight in September in the U.S
“I had a meeting with his team on Monday, and we’re looking at options, really,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about Dillian Whyte. “There are opportunities for him.
“I’d like for him to fight in the U.S, and there’s another couple of fights we’re looking at as well. I think you’ll see him out in September.
“There is a chance that Dillian can fight at the end of August. Again, everybody wants to try and box twice,” said Hearn.
Whyte fighting in the U.S in September can only mean that Hearn is planning on matching him against an American fighter to attract interest.
The way that Hearn was praising former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin on Thursday suggests that’s someone that he’s got his eye on for one of his fighters.
Hearn will have to make a significant offer to get the 6’5″ Martin to agree to stick his neck out for a fight against Whyte. Martin is ranked #6 with the WBA, and he may not be eager to put that ranking at risk for a small amount of money.
If Martin can get a title shot against Anthony Joshua, he would make millions. He’s not going to make that kind of money as the B-side opponent for Whyte.
As the interim WBC heavyweight champion, Whyte is in a position to challenge for the WBC title in 2022.
Dillian could fight three times in 2021
“For AJ, that kind of makes it difficult because if he fights on September 25th or September 18th, you’ve got to get a quick win without any hiccups to get out again in December,” Hearn said.
“For Dillian, he definitely wants to have two fights this year. The first of those would look to be early September to give you the opportunity to fight in December as well,” said Hearn.
It looks like Hearn has lost track of the fact that Whyte has already fought once in 2021 in March against Alexander Povetkin.
