Not quite true. There were some good cards at the start of the year (Warrington show, the Avanesyan fight) but they would have likely been watched by far fewer people than the Connor Benn fight/Ebanie Bridges show.
They need a combination of good fights and well promoted fighters. They had been playing Connor Benn fights on Sky not stop before the Vargas fight which even got my 77 year old dad asking when his fight’s on. I think Eddie wanted more of the that and more of the shoulder programming that he’ll now get with DAZN and will make more widely available.

so...out of that interview i got the following.
The 1.99 will only be for the next couple of months then expect DAZN UK to sharply rise to 9.99 per month.
Eddie said 'probably AJ' on DAZN. That to me means we may see AJs next fight on there but this discussed deal with a free to air channel will see AJ and the other big names flowing through a PPV model via the 'free to air' channel. A bit like a few years ago when CEJ did a PPV via ITV.
Anyone agree? Its all about the coins with Eddie. There is no way on earth that the consumer comes away from this with better value for money in the long term. For 2 months or so then yes, just to give you long enough to get sucked in.

But we get a dedicated boxing channel with boxing from all over the world couple with documentaries on the fighters and lots of build up.
Obv 1.99 is a steal and it won't stay that way, remember it's only 1.99 in the UK, it's 9.99 in Spain already.
I think their business plan is mor about numbers than margins so if enough people sign up it will be under a tenner.
Let's hope they don't start to do PPV on top of the subscription like sky

They won’t do PPV with ITV or with a terrestrial channel. ITV closed their channel because despite English saying Junior would do a couple of million buys his shows did really poorly. It costs a lot of money to have a channel there not being used at all.
If they do need to do a PPV then they’ll do with it DAZN through the app. It will help that they’ll be claiming the full revenue rather than another TV network creaming a decent % off the top.

I think you're right. Hearn has said in recent interviews that AJ is definitely a PPV fighter, and has said that AJ will end his career with Matchroom as he's more than a fighter to them he's family. He hinted that AJ may have some investment or interests in the Matchroom empire. Therefore its almost certain that AJ will move to DAZN after the next fight. That in turn means that there will be a DAZN PPV arm reserved for only the biggest fights.

I can’t see DAZN having an app and having a separate PPV option. Kind of defeats the object.
£9.99 a month, then the big fights cost you £24.99.

AJ will stay with Eddie as he seems loyal and Eddie will offer him co promotional rights. I’d actually be surprised if AJ leaves Sky - it’s been a good relationship for both parties and they’ve done record PPV sales a couple of times so he’s in a good negotiation position with them too.

No reason DAZN can't do PPV. Dead easy as they have payment details - Disney+ already do.
The question is the numbers. Can you do anything close to the type of numbers that SBO do for a Joshua fight for example.?
Difficult to see Joshua leaving Sky yet. Fascinated to see how Dillian Whyte's next 12 months play out.

Hearn wants Whyte to fight in the US on DAZN. Only way he’s PPV is UK prime time..
Hearn is sure that Whyte will continue on DAZN.

First fight that’s on DAZN PPV I cancel my subscription and just watch streams or YouTube the next day.
