i believe rigo turned pro at 28, so it has been done in the lower weights, although riggy is a bit of a special one of course, and unlike yafai managed to dominate the amateur scene even as a youngster rather than a fully mature almost 29 year old

What an athlete Lauren Price is. Superb in various disciplines. Right up there as one of Wales's best top sports people ever .. male or female.

I have met Lauren quite a few times over the years; not for the last few years as her primary training was elsewhere - but pretty sure I remember her when she first started visiting the local gyms to spar .. as most kids in gyms, quite & polite doing their thing .. but always chatty given the time.

She fully deserves her success.

I don't think the professional game is good for her; more so at the weight she is fighting at now - and if she was to move down I think her advantages of speed and size would be nullified quite a bit.

Stay amateur a couple more years and try to get into the SKY/DAZN presenting line up. If they need to have the female quota - what better than a female who actually knows something about the sport.

At 5`6" i feel she is too small for the pro ranks .. she is not heavy handed like your typical short people successful at their weight.
Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields would both tower over her .. and both quite heavy handed for women.

She’s used to fighting girls much taller than her and her speed, movement and accuracy all work in her favour. You may we’ll be right about Marshall but I think she’d be fine at light middle.

although she is freakishly short for her weight (i have never seen a 5'5 smw before), there are very few good pro women that size. if she turned pro she'd prob do well, though not many interesting fights out there

savanah marshall is yet to have a single one and has had only 10 fights in 4 years....there are only so many women who can still be in good fighting shape at that weight

Yeah but she could be pushed well in Wales and make some good money. I think she’ll be able to get down to light middle for a one off weigh in and then add 10lbs post weigh in.

At light middle, and given she’s short, some welterweights may fancy moving up which could give some big fights. She’s used to fighting girls taller than her so I’m sure she’d do fine.

of course she'd do fine, there would just be hardly anyone that good or appealing out there for her to fight. last time i checked there was literally like 15 women active worldwide in the mw division

though im sure she could still get on fighting mostly weak opposition though, perhaps do a very prolonged build up to a sav marshall fight

I cant say id followed her amateur career before the Olympics - but its interesting reading - makes me reconsider my last comment.

She jumped straight in at the deep end of womens top international boxing .. and lost some SD in the early years, but been pretty special last few years; very dominant in fact.

I gonna change my view - I think she should turn over pro - I am sure she can make enough money to secure herself. I`m sure the KO`s will get put on her record as soon as she steps away from the top amateurs and faces the journeymen/women ... much like the records of Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields did.

shields actually only scored 2 stoppages in 11 fights. she basically ran through 3 divisions in light speed because they are so thin. there was pretty much nothing left so she's doing mma full time now!

the type of opposition i see savanahh mashall in with is dire, very few women that high up are in shape and can fight

i do wonder though, for anyone who has won olympic gold etc......does it just feel like going over old ground to stay am? any motivation left? the pros really do feel like the next step even if the divisions you'd fight in are mostly sh!t

tbh, id hope all the ams from this cycle go pro, adds some freshness and interest to the pro scene

Dunno about her as a pro - the financial opportunities are frankly probably better as an amateur at her weight.

Great fight in the super heavy final: bombs away as the very brave Rich Torrez steamed in and caught the towering Jalolov with a shuddering left hook in the 1st, putting aside the demons of getting poleaxed the last time they met.
The big man came back and hurt the American in the 2nd, before the dumb ass ref took a point off Torrez for gods knows what….great win for Jalolov, who’s gonna make an exciting pro for sure ( oh yes, he already is one ) and Torrez is gonna make a great addition too.
I usually watch the Eurosport coverage as long as it isn’t the gormless Nick Halling, but the clown Aussie commentator on this one didn’t even seem to know that these two had met previously. At least big Ron does his research.

ya i enjoyed the shw final

torrez started really well an caught jalolov with some hard shots in the first, won it on 3 of the cards. went right at him and didn't look intimidated at all. but he just couldnt avoid the big straight left well enough and took a pasting in the 2nd round, repeated left hands rocking him. i thought he might get ko'd again. he hung in tough and got through the round, but couldnt really get into things in the 3rd and got handily outpointed there


ya the point off was total bs, if anyone should've gotten a deduction it would be jalolov for holding
