There's good people and bad people in every demographic. I've known plenty of standard run of the mill white people who hooked and crooked people on roofing jobs or painting jobs. It's not just gypsies and travelers.

Gypsies (Romanies) indeed are dark-skinned. And no, I don't speak Shelta or Cant. I only know a few words. I had an ex-girlfriend from Drogheda who was traveler and learned a bit from her but it's quite a hard language to learn.

Travellers come originally from Irish stock. When Cromwell displaced many Irish people a lot of them began living the lifestyle of gypsies. So yes they're white.
Gypsies (Romany) originate out of India although they were incorrectly described as Egyptians. Many of the families over time did marry traveller's so that complexion lightened up so a lot of them do look like white people.
Uriah Burton, for example, was Romany but he looked pretty fair skinned although there were many gypsies among his family and extended family that were darker skinned.
It's the same way with the Fury family where some are light-skinned and others are darker skinned. But they are a mix of travelers and gypsies.
And of course quite a few gypsies have married into non gypsy families so of course that also lightens up complexion over time as well.

An old school traveller who lives on the road in his trailer are usually dark skins. Didicoys they're called. And sorry Henry, I'm fluent and 100% gorger boy. Just picked it up from my best friend at nursery. Still is today.

Actually, it is fairly amusing.
Sadly, I think he's actually serious.
He most certainly is.
He's been a native american.
Then a professional boxer. Never had a single coaching lesson. Never sparred a round. Obtained a 'licence' by mail order. And got his head caved in by an unbeaten pro in the worst mismatch you would ever see.
Now, he's a traveller who has requested to be known as "Gypsy Bobbins".
However, he's harmless and takes his verbal hammerings well.
In fact, compared to most of those other fantasists in the boxing history forum, he's a sound bloke.
To be fair, despite everything, I tend to agree, he does seem to be alright. He's certainly more likeable than many of his compatriots we've had on here.

I've heard woman doing mans work is heavily frowned upon in those communities
Apparently there was a bare knuckle fight between two guys over an argument as one of their wives put the bins out and mowed the lawn.
I can believe it!

Years ago I did do interviews with Paddy Jaws Ward and Jerry Gorman. And of course Peter, Tyson and Hughie. Here's the Jaws Ward interview:
For context sake, we at ATGRADIO tried to make a ranking system out of the heavyweight bare knuckle boxers in England and America but that seriously got out of hand when we started getting death threats when we stripped someone of their "ATG CHAMPION" status and gave it to somebody else.

Ironically we are planning on doing a one-night reunion special because the last time we did a show was maybe 4-5 years ago. At one time we were the number one boxing podcast on blog talk radio.

Rufus, what happened to Brian "Striggy" Strege? Did he ever get out of his basement and actually have a fight? I remember him posing in a photo wearing his brand new shorts and boots and gloves and that 70's gay porno star moustache. As well as him, there were a few other loonies, all stateside, who claimed they wanted to be in that Trailer Park thing Stacy Goodson almost got off the ground. J'Leon Love was always gonna be putting your lights out in double quick and very painful time but, maybe, you could have hammered a couple of those boxing wannabes that used to call each other out.
