Although I do agree - 6 foot 9, mobile for size, more than happy to hold and lean-on all night etc - would cause anyone problems I still can't put him in the same category as the greats mentioned.

I can't believe I didn't realise that Fury has had 4 World title fights, and 3 of them were against Wilder.

The win against Vlad was good, but hardly the masterclass beat down of a champion in his prime that some would have us believe.

He has done well since his John Mcdermott and punching himself in the face days, but he surely cannot be considered above some of the greats in boxibg history

ya he cant be said to have been a good champion. 1 title defense (len had 10+) and it was against a guy he'd already fought twice, his inseperable lover deontay wilder

some ppl go on about lennox losing to mccall and raahman, but that;'s what can happen when you actually regularly defend your title vs decent challengers. fury's never had any consistent reign and he knows himself how unknown lower level guys (scissor hands wallen) can give some surprises

some of the fury fans are just cringe worthy. cheering for him not to fight whyte, calling him to retire, giving him wins by proxy rather than him actually fighting the guys. basically getting their backs up when anyone calls for him to get in consistently with good opponents

He was ordered by a court to box Wilder the third time. A bit like when Mike Tyson was against Lennox in the 90's but big Len took step aside.... How many defenses did Wlad have?

so he had to be forced by a court to make his single defence

ya, and wlad like lennox knows how those unexpectedly tough challengers can go when you actually stick around and regularly fight as champ. btw there we are again with fury fans trying to claim wins and achievements by proxy rather than by him actually doing it

Tyson is a drug cheat, a lot of his nut huggers conveniently forget that.

Talk of Tyson blowin Tyson || away seems ridiculous to me.

Iron Mike struggled with, movement, height and range, people that weren't scared.

Put that in a FOUR STONE and NINE INCHES size advantage and Fury wins all day for me.

This kind of dipping into and out of big fights, with extended inactivity isn't really how great heavyweight fighters are supposed to behave. To my mind Tyson Fury needs to get on with fighting regularly now. And that whole coming in heavy all the time thing is clearly going to blow up in his face sooner or later.

In a semi-joking fashion, there must be a big of danger Fury will just end up like 20 stone Corey T Saunders or whatever he was called - lots of mass but no punch. Interestingly the washed up version of Corey was a punch bag for Mike Tyson in some exhibition sparring at the end of Mike’s career. And its probably the last occasion Mike Tyson ever looked particularly dangerous.

Mike also struggled inside. A lot of people mistakenly think, that it was only his opponents, who tried to hold in order to avoid exchanges, like Bonecrusher did, but actually Mike didn't have enough to offer in close quarters. His strength was in landing on the way in, but when he remained there he didn't try a lot. Fury is definitely a better inside fighter.

Meh, they’re pretty all much all drug cheats imo, Fury just got caught. If AJ is clean, I’d eat my hat.

Do you honestly think Fury is better than a peak Mike Tyson?......... :brick: :brick: :brick: :brick:
No not at all, just very significantly bigger (a foot height and reach) and good enough to keep away.
But he couldnt keep Cunningham away, and Tyson hit a damn site harder and more often than The Ark Royal or whatever Cunninghams name was.

I think Tyson won that fight inside the distance without his corner team there. I'm still waiting for someone to tell when Mike Tyson got up to win? And Fury would hit him a lot harder than McBride.

A peak Fury doesn't have to be better than a peak Tyson.
You can be (say) "half as good" if you got 10 inches and 60lbs advantage.

I think Lomachenko is a lot better than Lawrence Okolie, but who would I pick to win that.....

I don't know why people are so nostalgic about Bruno. His best wins were John Emmen and Chuck Gardner FFS

McCall was unwell through crack addiction and had not trained a day. Gardner and Emmen were in their prime, dangerous, confident and hard hitting. :bag:

Joe was a legend. But didn’t train for the fight as you could see. Fat and gassed, Bruno bullied him. Bugner wasn’t in his prime like Gardner or Emmen.

Imo Gardner was just about over the hill on that fateful night in Marbella!

Yes. But if you’re talking about a man who absolutely outboxed the legendary Jimmy Young, you’re not talking about a mug. If you watch the fight Chuck was pissing the fight til Bruno landed the game changer.
