Beautiful display of moving and flicking air jabs by Berlanga, really showed some impressive boxing. Great infighting too, not having to hold every time his opponent got close. Great composure and sportsmanship too, even love nibbling his opponent

Steven nelson next? Toprank are going to want to keep him inhouse seeing as he is a loss waiting to happen. If he loses to your guy at least you transfer some hype....
Been very inactive, might of even retired (i dont know), but it makes sense to me...

Another ridiculous (but predictable) decision. I scored it 5-5. I could see a close decision for either fighter, but those outlandish scores in no way describe what went on in that ring. Maybe the judges had an audio feed to the clueless and biased ESPN announcers who gave virtually no credit to Angulo for his offense.
Angulo certainly could have done more, but Berlanga wasn't in any way controlling anything.

Terrible matchmaking if that fight ever happens. Berlanga should fight some Euro level dude like Fielding or something. Then fight John Ryder if the belts get vacated somehow after Canelo/Golovkin.

agree, was a 5-5 or 6-4 fight i thought. berlanga's work was mostly ineffectual pitter pat jabs at gloves or from too far away to even touch. im never impressed by these move and air jab performances. angulo landed better shots and was much stronger in close, but his output was bad and he let rounds drop that he couldve won
i dont have a problem with him winning but predictably the judges were up his arse

The sad thing about Berlanga, well one of many, is his terrible attitude. Dude doesn't look like he wants to improve much and is surrounded by yes men. Would be great for boxing if he was really the KO artist he started out as. Dude is filling up MSG fighting a complete nobody like Angulo. That's impressive considering Bivol/Beterbiev would probably barely fill up a backyard, as sad as that is.

Hahaha, You dont look at this as a fight fight but more as a promoter from what I see.

Time for top rank to cash out on this fellow is now. Two more fights and nobody will believe in him. Should just take the 500k offer from team Canelo and cash out heroically infront of a sellout crowd in his beloved puerto rico.

Anyone else hear in round 4, Tim Bradley really put his foot in it..
Tessitore commented about a corner during the session before Bradley
stated: “Look, Tess, I’ve seen worse.
“There’s a video circulating right now where a guy actually knocked another guy out of the ring. He got back in the ring, and the other guy [Simiso Buthelezi] started boxing a ghost in the corner.”
Tessitore chuckled, even though he knew about the death of Buthelezi. It may have been a nervous laugh as Bradley’s comment, though.
Bradley continued: “Seriously, he was boxing someone in the corner as the ref said box. I’m telling you.”
-------
Moments later, “Desert Storm” had seemingly been informed of Buthelezi’s untimely passing as he told viewers: “I want to take the time to apologize for that last statement that I made about that guy who was actually punching someone in the corner.
“He [Simiso Buthelezi] actually passed away a few days ago. I had no clue that he had passed away. I just want to give my utmost apologies to his family and to his loved ones.”
Tessitore then interjected again, outlining that he didn’t realize Bradley was speaking about Buthelezi.
He commented: “I was unaware of the video you were referencing. I thought you were just telling a story based on [sic], but there was the news this week on Simiso Buthelezi, who passed away.”

Berlanga sucks, I scored it 96-94 for Angulo. Berlanga threw more, but his punches were taps and paws, mostly to the gloves or without much effect. Angulo pressed forward, landed more power shots and made Berlanga bothered. Berlanga was pushed to do something by his corner before the final round, because his team saw, how woeful he had been. The official scorecards were disgusting.

Berlanga-Angulo Main Event Drew Average Audience Of 504,000 On ESPN
Thanks to a strong lead-in, more viewers watched the co-feature of ESPN’s boxing broadcast Saturday night than its main event.
Nielsen Media Research released numbers Tuesday that showed an average of 632,000 watched unbeaten Puerto Rican prospect Henry Lebron’s unanimous-decision defeat of Luis Lebron in an eight-round junior lightweight fight that opened ESPN’s telecast just after 11 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York. An average of 784,000 watched the beginning of this boxing telecast, but that appears to be due in large part to ESPN’s previous program.
That telecast – Tampa Bay’s 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 6 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference Final – drew an average audience of 2,837,000 viewers and a peak viewership of 3,789,000.
ESPN’s audience was lower for its main event, Edgar Berlanga’s unanimous points victory over Alexis Angulo in a 10-round super middleweight match, than the Lebron-Lebron bout.
Berlanga-Angulo drew an average viewership of 504,000. A peak audience of 515,000 watched Brooklyn’s Berlanga beat Colombia’s Angulo by comfortable margins on all three scorecards (99-91, 99-91, 98-92).
The Berlanga-Angulo fight didn’t begin until 12:13 a.m. ET, later than usual for an ESPN main event that took place on the East Coast.
Nielsen’s numbers include only viewers who watched on ESPN’s linear channel, not those who watched on ESPN Deportes or its streaming service, ESPN+, both of which offered live coverage of the Lebron-Lebron/Berlanga-Angulo doubleheader. ESPN’s linear viewership from Puerto Rico, where the Brooklyn-born Berlanga is popular, isn’t included in Nielsen’s average of 504,000 from the United States, either.

Sources: Edgar Berlanga is being suspended by NYSAC for biting incident vs. Alexis Angulo
Edgar Berlanga is being suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for attempting to bite Alexis Angulo on Saturday, sources tell ESPN.
The length of the suspension has yet to be finalized, sources said. Berlanga is also facing a fine for his actions.
The 25-year-old won a 10-round unanimous decision against his stiffest opposition yet, but in Round 7 of the Top Rank Boxing on ESPN main event, he attempted to bite the left side of Angulo's neck/shoulder.
Berlanga wasn't penalized by the referee for the foul, which the boxer said was retaliation for repeated elbows from Angulo.
A member of the state athletic commission, who requested anonymity to speak on the matter because there isn't yet an official decision, confirmed to ESPN that the incident is being reviewed. An official decision on the particulars of the discipline is expected by Friday.
"I want to apologize for my actions and what I said yesterday about the Mike Tyson bite," Berlanga tweeted Sunday, referencing the joke he made earlier about Tyson's infamous bite of Evander Holyfield's ear.
"I was in the moment and got a little ahead of myself. It doesn't take away from the embarrassment that I have caused upon myself, my team, [Top Rank] and many others. I reacted poorly and take full responsibility. Moving forward, I am going to be more mindful and encouraging in my behavior."
"Top Rank will abide by the New York State Athletic Commission's ruling," Top Rank spokesperson Evan Korn told ESPN.
Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs) began his career with 16 first-round KOs in 16 fights. The competition was raised in his past four fights, all of which he won via unanimous decision.
The fight Saturday was Berlanga's second consecutive headline appearance on ESPN at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The fighter, who is from Brooklyn and of Puerto Rican descent, has proved to be a reliable ticket-seller in New York, where there's a large Puerto Rican population.
Angulo (27-3, 23 KOs), who fights out of Colombia, suffered his other two losses in title bouts vs. David Benavidez and Gilberto Ramirez.

so toprank will do a december 17 show. 6 month boxing suspenctions dont do much. if they want to actualy punish him they should of given him 7 months, that basicaly stops him getting a 2nd fight this year and noone wants to fight jan or feb.
