Just caught up on the show. The first fight was good but it’s crazy that it wasn’t higher up the card. I think it saved the show a little bit as without it it would have been a write off.
The opponents for both Clarke and Azim were woeful. I said on the other thread for this show after the weigh in that it was pretty clear Clarke would win by first round KO and it was no surprise that it happened. Azim’s opponent wasn’t much better and it’s all far too predictable.
I didn’t have an issue with Jonas’ opponent so that wasn’t bad but the fight was a bit meh in the end.
The main event was also predictable. Having an opponent fly in from Tanzania on at least an 8 hour flight plus other travel 48 hours before the fight is never going to end well. Particularly when he’s outsized too.
The UFC show on at the same point had competitive fights throughout the whole show.
Sky/Boxxer must do better.

Also credit to Clarke for calling out how poor the opponent was. He’s had 3 fights now and 2 of the opponents have been woeful.
They should look for Sokolowski in his next fight. Or maybe even Nick Webb.

Wonder when Adam Smith will be along to say the quality has to improve. Boxxer haven't a big stable, but at least they can put what they have got in respectable fights.
In reality nothing is going to change with SKY, this is the sort of shite they have been shovelling for many a year. We'll get the odd good card but I don't see them breaking tradition no matter who promotes on their platfrom.

I'm not mincing my words on this occasion....Mwakinyo quit and should have some of his purse withheld.
We all know when the opponent is at this level, Smith will come on strong as the fight progresses.
Basically, the moment reality set in for Mwakinyo he set about disrupting what was coming his way.
Complete bottle job and an insult to so many brave boxers who are prepared to give it their all.

Mwakinyo should not be paid unless he can price significant damage to his ankle.
Guy quit. Planted the seed the round before and it grew quickly.
Should be black listed from fighting in the UK again.
Can’t be having that surely.

Anyone who was pissed off should watch the Estrada/Cortes card on DAZN from last night, excellent fight and the World Light Flyweight scrap between Nontshinga and Flores is a FOTY contender without doubt, puts this shiteshow to shame

It’s cause the UFC don’t have vested interests, it’s in the UFC’s best interest to provide great matchups, Boxing needs to head in that direction ….

On paper, this show looked ok a couple of weeks ago.
Then two genuinely intriguing undercard fights (Docherty-Costa, Quarless-Webster) dropped off the bill.
Then Mwakinyo (who looked pretty tough and dangerous against Egg) came over to the UK two minutes before the bell, with a strange weight disparity to Smith.
Clarke's opponent was a classic piece of matchmaking via record only (as if it was 1986 and we couldn't see who he'd beaten to get that 7-0).
Aziz matched against Argentina's 40th best Super Lightweight for some reason.
Probably the most entertaining thing about the show was the fallout from Clarke's bout. Everyone blaming someone else. Shalom's on IFL saying that Frazer's management team turned down a load of better opponents.
Still, at least they are putting on a few non-PPV shows, which is more than can be said for Eddie and Frank.

They did the old classic of waiting until two days before and giving out loads of free tickets. They always give out the frees to the side the cameras are facing. It was half the seats available and even they weren’t filled.
