Can You Forgive One Of Your Favourite Boxers Failing a PED Test? Please Explain Your Reasoning.

Bisping is an interesting success story. I followed MMA more back at the beginning - Bisping came through Cage Rage and then clearly was the best athlete in what was probably a very weak Ultimate Fighter. He did a lot with decent stamina and solid kick boxing. Pretty brutal the toll it took on him. As well as the eye didn’t he just find out the other day he has a broken bone in his back he didn’t even about. Also hip or was it knee replacement. It’s a lot of damage and he’s not even that old.

He was a good wrestler which held him in very good stead against grapple heavy Americans, he did get his jabbed off by Matt Hamill though and got a gift decision which was funny as they all made fun of his striking on the show

I'm of the opinion a lot more sports stars are on the PED's than aren't, I reckon it's rife as f*ck through most sports, Boxing, Athletics, Football, Tennis, Rugby, Cycling, Motor racing, I reckon 70-80% of them at the top level are on something on the banned list.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist though.

Though I don't really have 'favourite' boxers anymore.
Obviously there's some I like to watch more than others, but I don't really get invested in their careers like I used to.

To be quite honest, fighters that headbutt, low blow and fight dirty (Ward, Warrington and others) - they're the ones I really can't stand.
Was it Mares who nutpunched Agbeko a million times in their fight?
I hated that guy after watching that.

Bispings background IIRC was in some kind of hybrid martial art which was a a combination of kickboxing and (Japanese) ju jitsu. It was just before UFC but it was a time where some guys from TMA’s were looking for more grounded arts with a combination of striking and grappling. I think the ‘style’/gym was called Yawara Ryu, I read an article in a martial arts mag about them. It was around the time Geoff Thompson and others were questioning TMA’s and getting much more realistic training and sparring, Bispings gym was part of that movement, late 80s early 90s

There’s some footage out there from a very early tournament with Bisping in, not sure of the rules but there was both striking full contact it looked like and grappling
too, so it was kind of proto-MMA.

So anyway Bispings first art involved a decent amount of grappling

I would like to know how many boxers have TUE's in place. As these are classified "medical" problems they are not publicly discussed.

However if your British and suffer from asthma. You should consider taking up professional cycling or athletics. As being a sufferer of asthma will strangely give you the edge over the rest of the field!

I was right it was called Yawara Ryu, ‘Yawara Ryu ju Jitsu’ actually so they obviously mixed striking into a grappling base

Interesting stuff mate yeah I knew he stood out on that he was not exposed the second he rolled with an NCAA wrestler , unlike his contemporary Ross Pointon, who was a pure kickboxer
