Him only boxing Witherspoon in 2019 was nothing to do with COVID or Matchroom
Good note. I can't consider Fury as a serious champion after all his comedies. Usyk looks the real deal in comparison to him, BUT!
If we look at the Cat's heavyweight career, he's been inactive for a long time prior to COVID and the war. There were talks about fighting Povetkin, Helenius, Takam and a bunch of other names, but in the end of the day they took Witherspoon. And he had been holding the WBO mandatory status all the time.

Now he's stalling again. Why not sign some average top-contender on a short notice for April 29th? It's normal practice for the champion. Wilder and Joshua did the same in similar situations.
He also pulled out of the Takam fight, turned down Fury in December and quit training camp for Fury in April forcing his promoter to pull the plug and the Boxrec knitting circle to declare him the “people’s Champion”.

The undefeated Del would have beaten him. He went life and death with the shot version. Many thought he was lucky to get it.

Isn’t that the Forum consensus?
Apparently he was desperate to fight Fury in December but his management team and his sponsors prevented it happening.

AJ should just retire. At the very least it would save us from the posts of the obsessed insufferable manchild that cries about him all the time.

He lost about 3 rounds. It was not even close to life and death. And finally, an unbeaten Chisora who started a 3 fight skid 5 months after losing to Fury would not have beaten Usyk. Mickey is becoming more and more like Quickey...

The Boomer fight was lucerative. He’d beaten the best Cruiserweight before this and Bellew was the self-claimed best CW in the world who was coming off the Haye paydays. Raised Usyk’s profile in the UK even more.

Witherspoon as a first HW bout, not going to argue.

He knew the AJ fight was coming and at the time, Chisora was a good test for rough HW’s.

After one or 2 rounds, Usyk cruised to victory didn’t he?

Bet DAZN are pleased with the Joshua deal, can't sell subscriptions if he doesn't fight. I just can't see the point of him fighting on anymore

Haha. Usyk acclimatising to the division took how many fights ? He’s 36 now.
Chisora was still undefeated into 2010. He was 26?
13 years ago. Best name on the record was a shot Danny Williams (8 loses)
It’s all Fugazi.

Let’s just give Usyk his due. He may have lost a couple of rounds to DelBoy. If you believe the TV commentary it was so close. It really wasn’t.

Usyk
He has 3 belts. Fury has one and the other “made up one”.

End

In conclusion I will say this. I like watching Fury fight. But, when people talk of legacies and standing on the all time list, his record of oppo is weak. Same for Wlad to be fair.

Until he fights Usyk and tbf AJ (best of British) And beats then. Then he’s the best of the current crop (which isn’t all that is it?). Not even then can he even be mentioned in the same sentence as Lennox, Evander etc. and we won’t even mention the absolute greats before those guys. Now that would get embarrassing.

I love BoxRec.

So if he cleans up his era, what does he have to do to get up there? Get knocked out a few times? Who did the Holyfield and Lewis win their first Heavyweight titles against? Douglas and Ruddock? Not even comparable to Wladimir. As for Berbick....

The official scores for Usyk v Del were 115-113, 115-113 and 117-112. Bit too wide on one but two had it right for me.

Give it a rest. Wlad wasn’t even as good as his brother and coasted on a weak era. Got trashed in fights twice, when even his team didn’t think he had what it took to be a success.

Points scoring aside, don’t you think that in professional boxing if a fighter has an essential element missing - usually durability - don’t you think they usually get found out? I think if you slotted Wlad into that 80’s/early 90’s era, then he gets found out repeatedly? There’s no way he’s not getting stopped A LOT!

I kind of think with Fury, he’s going to get to 36 and the athleticism will be gone. He’ll lose some fight everyone expected him to win, retire. Only to reappear at various intervals in increasingly flabby states. I’d fully expect him to have a go at Foreman’s age record and embarrass himself in the warm up fights.

Oh come on now Mickey. He won’t get up there coz he’s not fighting anyone var people he know he can beat.

Why is Berbick in the convo? Coz Tyson (the original one) demolished him?
Btw. The Douglas who fought In Tokyo might be a live one. (Too many cheeseburgers after that). The Ruddock, Lewis fought was fav in a lot of quarters. We know what happened.
Those two guys, Razor and Douglas are far more eminent than anything Fury has faced. Or for that matter, Usyk.

It’s a non argument

Now it becomes a “trying to pull someone’s chain” back and forth.

Not happening. Mickey. Like your style though 👍

And before you guys come back on Wlad’s “eminence”
Just look at his record.
A bit better than Fury’s. But still not great is it. And I’d love to hear arguments otherwise. Truly.

Yeah, just so strange to hear a grown man being told what he can and cant do. Absolutley tame, very much like persona in the ring since Ruiz
