He's streets ahead of everyone at that weight I think. Cruiser is my favourite weight. Reminds me of the heavies from the 60s and 70s. Big, fit, athletic lads that can whack but still have speed, skill and stamina. Today's heavies are too big I think.
I’d have said LHW or SMW yno, if you look at them 60s 70s, what were they making on same day weigh ins? 200ish? The only problem has been a talent drain cos you can either get tighter and be a LHW which a classic div or go up to HW for the dollars.
I agree tho, that’s why you can’t compare heavies between eras and why I don’t like the modern ones.
Smw is banging too.
Light-flyweight is where it's at. Kenshiro Teraji isn't called 'The Amazing Boy' for nothing.

Not watched him. Is he good fun?

hes;' very good, his loss to masamichi yabuki in their first fight is bizarre. beaten up and stopped by a guy way below his level, who he blasted out easily in a rematch. not prepared or somthing? a good series to keep in mind if guys start getting complacent.....
He boxes a lot like The Monster and has good power, in fact, great power for that weight.
I like the Japanese fighters. Takeshi Uchiyama was a crowd pleaser
The Monster is my favourite boxer. Really looking forward to boxing day.
mine too, and no indications on the power diminishing as he moves up the weights. At 5ft 5, how many more do you think he could go up? He is so good to watch isn't he. I was impressed in his first fight with Donaire, that cut was horrific and he was one-eyed. And then the manner of his return victory.
I do feel sorry for his brother though, Takuma is a really good fighter in his own right, imagine having to compete with that when you both go to parents house :)
"I've got a world title mum"
"Be quiet son your four-division undefeated champ is trying to talk".

Haha.
Maybe Super feather, but that would be it for me. He'd be giving up a lot of height to virtually everyone up there.

The Japanese have some great success in lower weights don't they?

they sure do. Rarely see a HW Japanese, last one I can remember was the one Dubois stopped. He's since knocked boxing on the head and is kickboxing.

fuji is a good kickboxer too. he beat up jerome le banner about 10 years ago. quick kicks. good mix between kicking and punching.
some guys are better suited to kickboxing but the money is very scarce there for all but a few. ustinov was another who was a better kickboxer than boxer, and he was in much much better shape in those days
its a shame people watch these guys get stopped in boxing and then think they are weak arsee bums or something

I think he was a kickboxer before boxing.
you're right, just checked, was a kickboxer for ages. Really showing my (lack of) knowledge here :)

“It’s bullshit. It’s no f*****g right,” Opetaia told Fox Sports in Australia. “They’ve really left me with no choice, you know what I mean? This is a massive card that I can’t say no to. So they’ve stripped me. But it is what it is. They can do what they want. I’ll get the belts back. All I’ve got to do is train hard, keep winning, and they’ll come back to me. I’m going to get the job done on December 23rd. When that one is done, we’re going to get another job done….The belts will come back. They have to. They can’t deny me.”

Normally when the IBF enforce a daft mando and force the stripping of a champ it’s because they have another guy lined up to fight for the vacant who will pay a higher sanctioning fee or generate a bit more cash somehow. Happens often enough. I just don’t see which cruisers they could possibly be wanting to do it with?
