It's not about Joyce's speed or lack of it but it is about avoiding damage in the early stages when Zhilei has the advantage. No amount of training is going to make much difference to the contrast in speed between them.

Don't think either of them deserved to win that round

Just the odd straight shots at the body from both in the first.

I weirdly feel like this may turn into a bit of a boring Hrgovic v McKean type fight based off that first round. At the same time I can’t see how Joyce can continue that timidly for a whole fight.
